I would be more concerned with why it is leading in the first place.  What load are you using, and what alloy are your bullets made from?  What lube are you using?

I refuse to use a bore snake.  Seems like re-using dirty patches to me.

if you get consistent  leading in a Kart barrel I'd look into having it throated or finish reamed if you will... Karts should always be finished with a reamer.. If not lot's of leading.

if you are using most any commercial cast bullet you should not be getting lead at our velocities.

Nothing wrong with using the Lewis tool.. Been around for a long time.

Not go too far off track here - and I could be wrong, but the bore snake is supposed to washed every so often I think.

I pull a bore snake thru from the magazine well to clean the feed ramp. Makes it shiny and smooth.

I leave the brush in. They work better with the brush still in. I don't go all gung ho about it. A couple of passes after a range session and pistol is good to go. I am certain I will never wear a barrel out in my lifetime doing this.
