Slide racker for S&W Model 41
I was looking for something totally un-related, and found an unusual link that led me to this product. For someone with arthritis, or weak hands, this might be useful. According to the person at rimfirecentral.com who found it did work on the Model 41. I was curious and also watched the video posted below. Impressive!

Re: Slide racker for S&W Model 41
Mike, thanks for posting this. I recently had surgery for Dupuytren's contracture on my left (non-shooting) hand. Strength recovery has been progressing, but I've been out of business in the meantime. I'm sure going to try this on my Model 41 and hopefully it will put me back on the range right now.

Thanks for posting this! I just bought one, as my daughter is going to start shooting matches with me, and while shooting the victory is great, racking it is tough at times for her. This is exactly what she needed.
Re: Slide racker for S&W Model 41
I have grip tape on both sides of the front of the slide. Provides enough grip to rack or release the slide. Cheap fix.

Re: Slide racker for S&W Model 41
In follow up, the SW22 halo "charging handle" arrived yesterday. I installed it on my Model 41 and found I did not need to remove any metal from the clamping screw as was described in the rimfirecentral.com post. It clamps in one groove of the slide serrations, and there is no play. I didn't weigh it before installation, thinking I would get from the manufacturer's spec, but they don't provide it. I didn't want to take it off again, and the weight had seemed negligible.
I haven't gotten out to shoot yet, but I am anticipating good things as I can operate it easily with the index finger of the hand that was operated on. Below is a picture.

Model 41 slide racker
The Tandemkross Halo works on my 41. I did need to shorten the assembly screw a couple of 1/32in. The Halo serrations that pinch the slide serrations only had purchase on one serration. One has shown to be plenty for a 22rf.

Check the screw every so often they work loose. I have one on a buckmark it works wonders if you have arthritis.

Re: Slide racker for S&W Model 41
I tried this on my 41 and was quite disappointed.
It would not stay put for a 900 point match and when it slid, it would not allow the pistol to go back into battery and caused a alibi.
A shame that this did not work for me because that made it easy for me to operate the pistol but if you shoot competition, I would recommend that you make do without.

Crankster

Wonder how one of these would work? I also wonder why they wouldn't work on a Mark2. I may have to find out.

I bought one of these and it works nice. Even with my big hands. I wondered why they would not work on a Mk II. The Mk II is noticeably wider and the charger will not work for them. I can see why they don't feel the need to make one for the MK II. They are wider and as such they are much easier to grab and no charger is required. Some changes are not for the better. If you have a 3 or 4 this works.

Where does one buy "skate tape"? Is that the real name? Amazon?

The best M41 slide racker I have ever seen was a retired AMU shooter's M41 with Hammerli 208 style serrations on the front of the slide. I was jealous as my 1979 vintage M41 has cheap S&W shallow serrations on the back of the slide.
I bet some clever Bullseye M41 pistolsmith could mill front and rear the same, blue it, and the work would look classy.

Amazon. Skateboard grip tape, or deck grip tape.

I put tread/skate tape on the front legs of 41 slides at that "208 location". Works great unless one just has no grip in their thumb and fingers

Re: Slide racker for S&W Model 41
Just a slight twist in thread direction to include the High Standards with the bridge that covers a large portion of the Supermatic and Victor slides.
Is anyone aware of similar ring pull that will retract the slide that's on the Citations?
Thanks
