Re: Slide racker for Smith 41
I bought one but never installed it. I'm 77 and have no problems racking the slide on my Model 41. If you need one, it's yours for $25 + shipping (about $5?). PM me.

Re: Slide racker for Smith 41
I tried one of those tandemcross sw 22 on my model 41. It did grip the slide pretty good but it did move upon using the pistol and jammed the action. this happened after about 20 rounds. I think it was because the serrations on the model 41 are slanted as opposed to straight up and down.
Removed it and threw it in the free bin at the range. HOpe someone found a use for it.

Crankster

Re: Slide racker for Smith 41
I read somewhere that the slide racker needed some filing done to make it fit securely on the model 41. That's why I never installed the one I bought.

Re: Slide racker for Smith 41
There is a pin, appropriately called the bolt pin, which holds the bolt in the slide. It isn't very big, but could any of our 'smiths/engineers chime in on whether a longer version pin could possibly be made. The added mass shouldn't cause any functioning issue and there's no bridged rear sight to get in the way. Would such a pin work as a "cheap" slide handle? Or, would it be too brittle to survive the forces?
Re: Slide racker for Smith 41
The pin you describe is very small, and should it break the firing pin assembly will exit the rear of the slide, meaning you have to hunt in the dirt for the firing pin and spring. Don't ask me how I know....
If the TK racker is not to your liking have a smith drill and tap an 8-32 hole on the rear left side(or right if you shoot left handed) of the slide and install a shoulder bolt of the appropriate size to fit your finger. It is an elegant solution but does modify the slide if keeping it virgin is something you care about.
When I installed the TK racker on my 41 slide I did have to take a wee bit off of the TK racker bolt so that it would grab tightly. The slide cuts on the 41, at least on my A series 41, are very close to the slide cuts on the Smith Victory. I tighten that bolt when I break the gun down for in depth cleaning. Over maybe 25000 rounds I recall the TK racker only once walking up on the slide. It was obvious and since I always have allen keys with me it was a maybe two minute fix to reposition and tighten again. I can live with that. Those of us with severe arthritis in the hand will do anything to avoid grabbing the slide, particularly if the gun is uncocked. bob

I need to try the Tandemkross Racker on mine. With my scoped barrel on it, it's a real pain to cycle the slide

Re: Slide racker for Smith 41
My previous offer still stands - $30 including shipping. That about half price.
