Target Size and Backer Size
Yo yo yo!
So, with all the fancy ways and means of attaching target to cardboard, I can't help but wonder- how did we arrive at the size of either that we did? Was it a common dimension, something from the military?
I'm sure there is a reason for it, but not a clue on why. Thoughts?

Re: Target Size and Backer Size
If the shot skids and enter on the backer then enters the target itself it’s a 0. If the bullet enters the target outside the scoring rings then cross all the rings you get entry +1 so a 5. So It doesn’t really matter the backer size.

Re: Target Size and Backer Size
It allows for centering the target with enough on the edges to utilize a target frame.

Re: Target Size and Backer Size
We use 26x26 backers on our outdoor range and 24x26 on the indoor, except for the very end target. The mount for it is different from the others, so we have to make it 24x30, so the center of the target is the same level as the others. If you make the backers the same width as the target, they tend to shoot out the frames faster.
