Disillusioned by rimfire
As instructed by the forum members I put away the 1911 and picked up a Buckmark.
Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. I'm all about it. Take me to the promise land one step at a time.
Tested 5 five different types of ammo, all shot about the same, picked one brand and started to zero in. Just wasn't responding all that well to adjustments. Bad start. Regroup, go home, clean pistol and discovered rear top strap screw was loose. Maybe THAT had something to do with it.....Finish cleaning pistol, checked them darn top strap screws at least three more times and resolve to do better tomorrow.
Tomorrow comes, rear sight takes to adjusting more reliably now that it's secure. Shooting session is only meh....chalk it up to bad first impression.
Then... the fiber optic tube falls out of it's mount up on the front site. Gone who knows where. Hangs head and leaves range.
Honestly, I can shoot my old rattle trap series 80 more accurately. That ain't sayin' much but geez, wanna talk about a rough start with this rimfire stuff.
Whimpering over.
My best guess is the grip needs to be bigger from front to back to fit my hand better/trigger needs to be further forward.
Anyone have suggestions for building out a grip?

A piece of grip tape on front and back can help.

Google- Buckmark target grips
Also, if your front fiber optic rod falls out, just use a 6:00 hold and if you look through the sight hole and see target white, then you are lined up and looking at the front sight.
Your range issues sound like the first 2-3 range visits for everyone with a new pistol. Never let an unproven gun be the only one you take to the range. It guarantees a short visit!

I am sure down in Tampa Bay you can appreciate a great looking Buckmark with custom grips. Or maybe not.

Re: Disillusioned by rimfire
I've been spending quite a bit of time reading through this treasure trove of threads/topics over the last weeks. Even more so in the last week or so. Especially after a new gun left a bad taste in my mouth. It just made me more determined.
Called Browning and there should be repair part(s) on the way. Great customer service by the way.
Willnewton: the large area of white in the front sight was not outlined enough to really focus. My fix today was to make a spitball and stuff it in the hole, then marked it black. Not a long term fix but certainly effective
Speaking of sights....I had my eyes checked. Hopefully my first ever new glasses will help me differentiate between the fuzzy, spitball front sight and the fuzzy ball that dances around down range.
Thanks for the encouraging words.
Mined this gem from the forum.... it has given me something very specific to concentrate on
"Start the trigger moving before the front sight/dot is in the aiming area, and keep squeezing through my arc of movement"
^^^^Gave me a new sense of hope^^^^
