Sight adjustment from the 50yd to th 25??
Question: Does anybody make sight adjustments when they move from the long line to the short line? I use an ultra dot. Just wondering what others are doing.
Thanks,
Jeff S.

yes. 4 clicks lower for short line from long line.
I think this topic looks really familiar. didn't we just do this a few weeks ago?

Yes, for the 45. No change for the 22.

all this click stuff is useless unless you give your setup, and type ammo and load. Some loads require no change some requre drastic changes, you can gain no usable info without the looking at the whole picture. Ok shooting a 185 lead swc out of a 5' 1911 using 3.8 grains of bullseye, and a ultradot requires 3-4 clicks up from a 25 yard zero point, most 22s shooting standard velocity ammo requres one clik up to center the x but most dont change, a low x is still a x. You can shoot a lswc 160 with 4.7 bullseye at 50yds and 4.3 at 25 and not do any adjustments.

Re: Sight adjustment from the 50yd to th 25??
I don't seem to need to make any sight adjustments to my UltraDots between the long line and short line with my shorter-barreled .22s (Hammerli 280, S&W 617 4"; both with CCI SV). With my 7" S&W Model 41, I need to move two clicks down at 25 yards with CCI Standard Velocity.
With my .45 loads between the long line (200gr LSWC, 4.5gr W231) and short line (185gr LSWC, 4.5gr W231), I do have to move four clicks down at 25 yards with my UltraDot on my S&W 625s (both the 5" full-lug barrel and the 4" "Mountain Gun" barrel).
When shooting iron sights, any ammo, any gun (revolver or semi-auto), and using a 6'o'clock hold, I don't find I need to make any adjustments to the sights between 50 and 25 yards.

If you have to ask, you are not shooting enough.

My Model 41 shoots CCI SV with no sight adjustment.
5" 1911:
.45 185 gr. Nosler HP / 4.4 grains VV N310 for long line.
.45 185 gr. Zero LSWHP / 4.2 grains VV N310 for short line.
No sight adjustment.
I've been shooting this for 2 years now and it has worked very well for me.

I like a sub six hold which may broadcast my
Ability level......Orrr my age in not being able to maintain the steady hold I was once blessed with.
Saying that to say this. My Giles .45 has irons so I use a six hold @ 50yds and just hold in the white at 25.
My 41 with 4 dot set @ 12 moa (it bothers my head to no end watching that 4moa breakdancing in the black.....and white), I'll usually do 4 clicks with CCI std vel.
However, next season the .45 methodology may change as I'll be using match ammo loaded commercially to Ft Benning specs at the long line and trying some Valenite 160s and I purchased from Dave Salyer with some Clays - had always used BE or 231 previously w/a 200 H&G. So, don't know what I'll have yet.

Re: Sight adjustment from the 50yd to th 25??
With the .45 I think it depends on your ability more than anything. If you shoot above 90 and are very good at calling your shots then you should be able to adjust your sight for 50 yds so you have a good reference point.
For me I can shoot HM scores with a 22 but I struggle with the 45. What I have done is to make sure my 25 yrd groups are centered and I have not noticed that I have needed to make an adjustment to my sights for 50yds. When I start shooting higher scores I may notice I need to adjust the sights between 25 and 50yds but for now I am just going to focus on the basics and not worry about changing my sights a few clicks just because others do it.
