Sight Adjustment? FAS607
So, I've signed up for my first match. Going to shoot CDN1800 (with .22 only), ISSF Standard, and ISSF Sport. Match organiser has already offered to lend me a pistol if I want to shoot that in Service Pistol.
My biggest worry (besides shooting VERY badly last few times at the range and having little time to practice between now and the match) is how to approach sight adjustment.
Match will be at 25 yd, my practice has always been at 20 yd.
Any links to calculators for sight adjustment? Anyone know the adjustment amount for an FAS607?

If you have a good zero for 20 yards you'll be good to go at 25. For my FAS the adjustments are counter clockwise for up and left.

I've had no trouble adjusting. It's shooting consistently that's been eluding me recently.

Most likely that is from inconsistent grip. Both placement in the hand and tension in the fingers.

Probably no adjustment required.

I frequently shoot matches at both 20 and 25 yards; I never needed to adjust my sights. Even for the 50 yards, I don't adjust my sights for .22.
First match, just remember to relax and have fun! Don't try too hard. You'll shoot better that way.

I believe that ISSF sport is the Womens Sport/Junior Mens which will require a center of mass hold for the rapid stage. I adjust from a sub six slow fire hold with a 1 click short of 1.5 revolutions clockwise adjustment for centerhold. My favorite courses of fire, enjoy, they are hard to find anymore in the US.

Re: Sight Adjustment? FAS607
Thanks to all that replied. Left my FAS sight as-is.
Shot my FAS 607 for rimfire and the organiser loaned me his Hammerli SP20 in .32 S&W Long WC for centerfire.
Perfect weather, great company, great range all made for an enjoyable first competition experience. Kinda wish I wasn't the youngest there. With the already low turnout, makes me wonder who'll be around to compete for much longer. Encourages me to promote the matches at my club.
Considering I've only been shooting pistol for approaching 3 years now, have never competed before, and have never even practised the various matches with any calibre of center fire, I'm quite proud of my results.
I had never even practised the quick fire timing for the Sport or Centerfire Pistol events before either.
NRA Rimfire 659/900 2X
NRA Centerfire 607/900 2X
ISSF Sport Pistol 487/600 1X
ISSF Std. Pistol 481/600 4X
ISSF Centerfire Pistol 474/600 3X
Really looking forward to my next competition. Hopefully I can find more of them to participate in.

I'll go next year so you're not the youngest there. I couldn't go this time. Given those scores, I think you're off to a good start; you should be able to break 500 and 700 next year. The trick to mastering that 3 second shot in sport/centerfire is dryfiring (duh!); get some app to "beep" at the correct interval and get used to raise/aim/trigger in that 3 seconds. I have an mp3 if you'd like.

Thanks, I've got the 25m Pistol Timer phone app that does the commands, timing, and signals.desben wrote:I'll go next year so you're not the youngest there. I couldn't go this time. Used that for practising timed and rapid standard pistol. Will now practice the 3 second shot as well.
