160 Grain SWC cast lead bullet
Colt Government model, tapered rib, Ultradot 30mm.
19lb mainspring,10 lb recoil spring, 6 lb magazine spring, standard firing pin spring.
I have been trying to work a decent load up for these new light bullets, no ransom testing just off my inexperienced hand and paying attention to the slide cycle.
Accuracy seems off and ejection seems weak with 4.1 WST, accuracy gets better as you go up but seems real good and cycle is good at a high of 4.8 WST.
tested 4.1 to 4.8 30 rounds each.
The recoil did not seem to increase as the powder volume went up ?
Anyone else fooled with these little 160 G button type SWC ? 4,8G seems a bit high ?

I haven't tried that bullet but I have thought about trying the IDP #10 from Missouri Bullet Company. It's a 155 grain cast .452 SWC with Hi-Tek coating.

With the Dardas 160 grain cast, 4.4 of WST works well in my guns.

Clark Heavy optic, matchdot II,
I think it's a 10#.
looking at my data, it's 4.37, so call it 4.4 WST
I'll try and get a velocity tomorrow, but, they move out pretty fast.
couldn't get anything lower to cycle my guns.

Isn't WST the "replacement" for 452 AA?john bickar wrote:4.3 452AA

Re: 160 Grain SWC cast lead bullet
Do the 160 grain bullets shoot any higher or lower than the 185 grain bullets at 25 yards?

Re: 160 Grain SWC cast lead bullet
Ok. 160 DARDAS cast swc,
Avg 796 fps with 4.4 wst, .925 shoulder to base dimensions . probably a .463-.465 crimp
.Magnus #811 3.7 Bullseye .920 s.t.b dimensions same crimp, avg fps.
Same POI at 25 yards.

Did you notice a reduction in felt recoil with the 160 grain bullets?

Re: 160 Grain SWC cast lead bullet
With the same load there can be a reduction in recoil. But with 4.3 for the 160 and 3.7 or more for the 185, I don't notice less recoil. I noticed better groups in slow fire.

It is the replacement for 452AA but it is not interchangeable. As others using WST have noted 4.4 seems to work but your gun may need re-springing.
