Favorite Gun To Shoot
I have been playing with BE informally because I will have to drive a good way to get to a match. I am finding it to be immensely satisfying, challenging and just plain fun. I especially get a kick out of running my BE app on my phone and shooting to the range commands as other shooters on the range laugh at me.
I started with a Ruger Mk IV Competition .22 with a 1" Ultra Dot and I am getting better. I thought I might be getting close to where I could justify the 2.5 hour drive to a match so I bought a SA Range Officer for the .45 and centerfire stages. I was going to shoot it a while and then send it to Dave Salyer to turn it into a proper BE target pistol.
Thing is, I am having a ball shooting it with iron sights. I did not say I was shooting it well. My .22 is much better for my scores and it is not the recoil as much as the iron sights, but the thing is I am having great fun bullseye shooting with it with the iron sights.
At some point I need to get serious and send it (or another gun) to be turned into a target pistol with an UD red dot. It just made me wonder, what others find to be their most enjoyable gun to shoot.
Not necessarily your best gun, or most expensive, or most accurate (though it may be all of those as well), but the one you find most fun to shoot at a BE target.
What say you?

Curtis Wadgun, circa 1998. Short course results are great with it and it shoots at 50 yards as well as I can on a given day.
But learning to deal with the recoil recovery took time, and is still not over. I find that as time passes, my understanding of concepts evolves. That includes what I consider good trigger control and the importance of the various fundamentals. Grip, stance, shot plan, etc.

I enjoy 1911's and have my 22 on a conversion, but I really enjoy shooting my DR gun, a SW 586.

Its hard to beat a good 22 conversion on top of a 1911 lower tuned to be a 22 conversion.

For me the most fun is my 25-2. Super accurate. Never a ftf. Adjust your ammo to the recoil you like. Shoots everything. No magazine and no chasing brass. What's not to like?

Anything on a 1911 frame but my 41 and 25-2 is also at the top of the list.

For pleasure of pulling the yrigger and puching holes in the X-ring its my Pardini SP22. Otherwise, my Accuracy X 1911's! The 1911's do however provide that satisfying push of recoil

Greetings,
My "most fun"....
....my Les Baer Custom Target. Bought from Les his first year in business using his first batch of frames and slides. Currently not my most accurate but an old friend, nonetheless.

Even though I know that I absolutely must train with my 22 conversion in my attempt to recover my lost bullseye skills, I also know that if there is a 45 in the shooting box, I will shorten my 22 session to shoot the 45. So I guess the 1911 is my favorite.

Interesting...
Why do we eat dessert last? Is it because it is a special treat, or is it because we like it best, and want to remember it most after our dining experience ends?
For me, given a gun box with a .22, a .45 1911 and a revolver. I will shoot the .22 first, then the 1911 and save the revolver for last. Perhaps the .22 is the appetizer, the 1911 the entre, but the revolver is my dessert.
Having all three guns in a gun box with ammo and not shooting all 3, with the revolver last would be like being in a 1969 Corvette ZL1, 4 speed, and being told you cannot shift out of 1st gear.
But, hey, that's me.

They are all like children I cherish them all and each has their +'s & -'s. There has only been one that I had to give up on and that's was a 5" 454 Casull that I bought when I was motorcycling/camping in Alaska. Hated firing that gun, swapped it out for a 45/70 Guide gun, so far it's the only hand gun I have ever sold.

Not my favorite. I can’t say that I have a true favorite. We’re shooters. We like guns. All guns. If it goes bang then we want it right? But I suppose this one here is an old friend and a joy to shoot from time to time.

Re: Favorite Gun To Shoot
I love my Ruger .22's! Utterly reliable after initial break in and very accurate contrary to all the folks who condemn them.
I still think we should have an annual shoot where everybody competes with Rugers like the old IROC in car racing!!! Then we'll see who can shoot and who buys points!!! LOL, LOL. Don't kick my butt!
What's not like for little money. 10,000 of thousands of rounds and still going strong.
Lots of gizmos and dod daads for upgrading.
Having said all this, I'm now shooting a Nelson with dedicated lower!

Re: Favorite Gun To Shoot
My answer would be whichever gun happened to be in my hands as I was wondering about this. Some are more of a challenge than others. If forced, I could narrow it down to my S&W Model 52, my High Standard, my Salyer Wad Gun, and my S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman. but I enjoy my other guns just as much when I get to the range.sjs wrote:.......what others find to be their most enjoyable gun to shoot.........Not necessarily your best gun, or most expensive, or most accurate (though it may be all of those as well), but the one you find most fun to shoot at a BE target....
The Model 52 is more of a challenge. Until I get better, I should take it off that list. For the Salyer, I need to load up ammunition before going to the range, so I should take that off the list. That leaves a choice between my High Standard (or Model 41), and the S&W M-28. Grab the gun, a few boxes of readily available ammo, my muffs and glasses, and go have fun. For the reasons Len mentioned up above, my Model 28 would be the finalist, if I had to narrow this down to one gun, probably for the same reasons he posted.
