Favorite Gun To Shoot - Page 2 Empty Favorite Gun To Shoot

Post by sjs 7/27/2018, 9:57 am

First topic message reminder :

I have been playing with BE informally because I will have to drive a good way to get to a match.  I am finding it to be immensely satisfying, challenging and just plain fun.  I especially get a kick out of running my BE app on my phone and shooting to the range commands as other shooters on the range laugh at me.

I started with a Ruger Mk IV Competition .22 with a 1" Ultra Dot and I am getting better.  I thought I might be getting close to where I could justify the 2.5 hour drive to a match so I bought a SA Range Officer for the .45 and centerfire stages.  I was going to shoot it a while and then send it to Dave Salyer to turn it into a proper BE target pistol.

Thing is, I am having a ball shooting it with iron sights.  I did not say I was shooting it well.  My .22 is much better for my scores and it is not the recoil as much as the iron sights, but the thing is I am having great fun bullseye shooting with it with the iron sights.

At some point I need to get serious and send it (or another gun) to be turned into a target pistol with an UD red dot.  It just made me wonder, what others find to be their most enjoyable gun to shoot.

Not necessarily your best gun, or most expensive, or most accurate (though it may be all of those as well), but the one you find most fun to shoot at a BE target.

What say you?

What model of flintlock is that? It looks very high tech also what caliber? Looks to be a fun one to shoot.

Boy, I'm with you 100%

I used to enjoy my S&W 41 and Hi Standard Citation until I got the Pardini SP. Now that is my favorite .22.

I don't have an Accuracy X but I do enjoy my COLT Gold Cup Trophy !

Chopper

It was a custom build for a niche sport. It was built by Chris Hageman formerly of Cylinder and Slide I believe. Has a Bo-mar rear sight, Herrett Nationals for a 1911 for grips, and it's a .32 caliber patch and ball gun.

I love my Bunker Arms 45, but if I could only have one gun it would be my Pardini SPBE. Rifle or pistol, the 22 is my favorite round. Can shoot it all day and never get bored.

That's a tough question. Currently for .22 a Pardini SP that I'm still getting used to. Centerfire would be either 1960 Colt .38 Super converted to Wadcutter or a S&W M52-2. .45 would be my Salyer Wadgun. Revolver my M14-1. If I had to pick just one it'd probably be the M52-2

Pistol would be my S&W 986.  Rifle fave is the Henry youth model .22 in stainless I bought years ago for my grandsons to use when they visited.    Now it's my gun to rid the yard of tree rats and chipmunks.

As someone said we are shooters and all firearms are fun.  I shoot a Pardini SP the most, and do like it.  I really enjoy my TOZ free pistol the most of any pistol for just going to the range and shooting for fun.  I enjoy black powder shooting but Trap is highest on my list of fun competition shooting.

As much as I love the MG2 and 215s, my most favorite is my Steyr FP.

Would love to have a Korth revolver to try and see if it would be a new fave Smile

There is one gun I have wanted to shoot at a Bullseye target since the early 1980's.  I wanted to buy one back then (was in the showcase), but I could never find anyone to help me learn how to use it, and while I would have drooled all over the gun but for its being behind glass, I never bought it.  It's a black powder gun.  I entered a thread here about this last May, and am finally about to use it next Tuesday at my range, shooting at the same B-8 targets I always use, at 25 yards.  A fellow at Hollywood Rifle and Pistol Club, Bob Crawford, is helping me get set up and teaching me.  Gee, that's about 38 years or so of wanting to do this........

The real answer about which gun is the most "fun" is whatever gun is in my hands at the moment, as long as it's working.
Which gun is the most challenging - without doubt, my S&W Model 52.
Which gun is the most difficult - my silhouette gun, S&W Model 29, with 10 5/8" barrel, because of the weight.
Which gun do I shoot the most - either my High Standard or my S&W Model 41.

When I read the threads here, I find some of you who I think are so good, and experienced, your using a Bullseye Gun is like driving a fine sports car.  Then there are people who are so up-tight about the competition angle, I wonder if they are having any fun at all.  And then those people in the middle, who seem to be so relaxed about everything, they're obviously having a great time enjoying themselves.  That's the group I would like to be part of.

Mike

you will have a blast with that cap and ball gun,

I have an Italian made Rem 1858 clone,, had it since I was a kid

shoots well, for what it is, and is a blast

lots of smoke,

haven't shot it in years, when I get the itch to smoke things up, I grab my Pedersoli Brown Bess,
still suck with it, as far as accuracy, but using a flint will help with you get rid of any flinch!

My favorite gun to shoot is my IL Les Baer Hardball gun .Probably best target 1911 I ever owned.

How accurate ?

A consistent 10 shot groups under 3 inches using Federal Match Ball. Not with  a ransom rest but with me shooting the gun off the bench using iron sights.

Well, it's not "BE". The target is actually MUCH smaller. :p
But if it's about "fun to shoot", this is it.

1978 vintage Drulov 75
10 inch barrel, single shot bolt action, hair trigger.
Great fun to shoot.
