FL guide rod install question
So I have my FL guide rod in from brownells per LenV recommendations went in pretty easy but then I went to take down the slide from the lower and at first it did not want to come apart, gave it a good pull and off the slide came. Something I’m noticing is when the slide is off the frame, the guide rod want to pop up like it wants to come out of the slide but gets caught on the barrel hooks. I have to give it a little push down but it keeps popping up. I can attach the slide back to the frame but have to push down on the back of the fl guide rod. I did notice it said minor fitting may be required.
Pistol functions fine and take down is easy. The goal was to be able to take the upper off and make it easy for the conversion. I just want to make sure I don’t damage anything.
Hoping lenV chimes in to see if he has the same issue

Both the RRA and KC pistols I've had with FLGR have it where it pops up like you say. I've never had an issue removing the slide from the frame though, that may take some fitting.

Works for me then. After taking it down a few times no issues, I watched a few videos and also saw them pop up/out like mine does. I can see where a 2 piece could be easier. Heck, maybe this one finds its way in my Kimber desert warrior.

Re: FL guide rod install question
Never had a problem taking the slide off#. Usual problem is stopping the slide from getting away. The guide rod always sort of pops up. Even on short guide rods I am used to disassembly by removing the slide stop pin. I capture everything in left hand while removing. To reassemble I flip the link up so guide can sit flat and slide together. The link will roll back in place as slide closes.
Len # I have seen some 1911's that won't let slide come off if pressure on grip safety or trigger.
