semiwad cutter vs. JHP - Page 2 Empty semiwad cutter vs. JHP

First topic message reminder :

Some of the guys who shoot bullseye at the club have told me that, with the same manufacturer (I've been buying from Zero), the JHP is more accurate than the semiwad cutter. What's the opinion here?

Me too, but it took me a lot of years to learn that you're not supposed to lick the bullets.

San Mateo County Public Health Department still gives me a call once a year or so...
Wait,

Saliva isn't the proper lube for lswc's?

I saw a rimfire BR shooter lick every single .22 as he loaded it.    I guess he hasn't bothered to get his lead checked yet.

As mentioned, I worked with two individuals to diagnose the issue I was having.

Here is part of our conversion from one of them as we narrowed down on the issue.

"Every time I tested the [specific lead bullet he was testing] I would get the same result [as the other HM].  Several very good ones and then a flyer that would normally go higher sometimes as far the 6 ring."

Both test using a Ransom Rest.  [The brand/make bullet they were testing erred on the light side.  The brand/make I was using erred on the heavy side.]

What I know is that once I switched to swaged, the specific 6 o'clock issue I was experiencing above went away.

Now, we can continue to bash my contribution and I will continue to prove otherwise.  Or we can get back to answering the original posters question.  Is JHP more accurate than lead, and if so, why?

My cast bullets are just as pretty!
I would have to agree.  And it’s a pleasure to make them
