Aguila Pistol Match on Sale at Lucky Gunner - $25 per 500 rouds

I just ordered a case, it shoots great in my AW93. With shipping to PA and sales tax, total price for 5000 rounds was $286.49

very underrated ammo..  I've been shooting it in my Marvel for well over 2 years without a single failure of any round.

very consistent ignition and clean..

My 2 recent cases have had light charges and misfires. Training fodder

I need to be educated on this, please.  Why would I want to buy Aguila Pistol Match for $250 / 5000 rounds plus shipping if I can buy CCI SV for less?  Thank you, AP

My marvel likes it better than CCI...  not that it really helps me

Tested in 3 Nelson barrels, Ruger 22/45 and a Colt 22 revolver and it was disappointing.

Jayhawk, are you talking about disappointment with Aguila or CCI SV?

FWIW - I don't like anything Aguila, even though factory was setup by Remington, TMBK.

All the Aguila stuff I fired didn’t run my 41,  revolver ammo.

Definitely the case here. I think the modern packaging isn't as good as the older stuff, for the price. (maybe we are paying for the new printing?)

It will run a euro gun OK, but in a 41 or MK II? Outta here!

You never know about 22 ammo.. my buddy shoots the super extra in his mkII 22/45 and it shoots great..

Unfortunately for me, I now have to side with Jon. Today at the match Aguila Pistol Match failed to eject 3 times, causing me a double alibi and a loss of 40 points. 
I am grateful to a friend and a fellow shooter, who rushed to help me and offered Eley to replace my failing ammo. I finished the match with Eley, shooting .22 only 2700 and scored a personal best in the .45 portion of the match.
Needless to say, I called the vendor and cancelled my order. I will stick with Eley and will try SK Pistol Match that another great shooter gave me at the match.

For an inexpensive alternative try GECO 22 LR Semi-Auto Match.

Aguila 22 lr super extra copper plated 40 gr had misfires for me. 1 took 4 hits to go bang. Ok accuracy, under 3/4" average in a rifle @ 50 yards.

CCI standard did a little better accuracy wise in the rifle. Works great in my High Standard pistol.

I have a marvel and recently bench tested CCI SV, Aguila Pistol Match, Eley Target, and SK Pistol Match Special. Eley Target shot the worst followed closely by CCI SV. I was disappointed and shot another 10 round 50 yard grouping and it was the same. From the bench the Eley Target grouped roughly the size of the 10 ring. Each weapon prefers different ammo, thats why I play around and test them right? So the SK Pistol Match Special and the Aguila Pistol Match both grouped tight x ring size groups. My problem was that for the 10 shot group of Aguila I had three malfunctions. It was the only malfunctions of any ammo for the day. I am going with the SK Pistol Match Special for target and competition use. It isn't too expensive so I don't mind buying it for both and the Marvel functioned flawlessly with it. Just my observations, I only write it to maybe help another

I run alot of the aguila pistol match in my non lockback marvel and had to play around with the recoil spring. Ended up with a 7lb wolff model 41 spring and it runs perfectly now.

I don’t have any pistol match. I’ve actually never tried it. But here’s a story (I’ve shared before I think...)

I ordered a case of Aguila Super Extra Standard Velocity. It’s a 40 grain  lead bullet, advertised as SV, and comes in the blue, yellow, and white boxes. An entire case - yup! All 5,000 - no powder. I had pops and could hear the bullet slap the backer a split moment after. One was even a squib.

Customer support was great, and I was hansomly compensated. Two more free cases of High velocity free. Both the SV and HV shoot well out of my Nelson. And the SV shoots ok out of the High Stanards factory barrel but shoots great out of the LSP barrel I have for it.
