I am a little surprised by the High Standard position. I see a lot of them on the line and would have expected to see them a little higher.

Are the Marvel conversions better then a Model 41?
Are the Marvel conversions better then a Model 41? I would really like to know if some top shooters are using these conversions!
Re: Poll Results: .22 Caliber Pistol That You Fire
If you consider guys like John Zurek a top shooter then yes top shooters are using them. Better is debateable and strongly in the eye of the beholder. The only high master that I personally know shoots one also. Saw him shoot a 100 10x rapid fire with a four shot alliby the last match I saw him.

Well, I'll be shooting the NY State and NJ State matches, so I guess I will stroll the line!

I have to agree with Scott regarding the Hi-Standard. Back in the day that was the "go to" choice for .22. Maybe the re-release of the Hi-Standard has dropped the rating? I have not handled any of the new models, so my question may be off the paper.

Why no Buckmarks?
I know I don't compete at a high level, but I am amazed to see no Buckmarks. My target model shoots many types of ammo < 1" off a rest at 50 yards and when you do the trick to flip over the trigger spring it becomes awesome. The main downside is you have to take the scope mount off to clean from the breach, but with a .22 string cleaners work great. I keep trying to convince myself to get a better gun but can't justify it.

There were 2 votes for Buckmarks in the "Other" category.

I would guess some of the reasons for lack of buckmarks are . Not much after market support for them....I would think many a new shooter has pondered the Ruger / Buckmark choice .....Ruger has a pretty good aftermarket staple of parts and has some Gun smith support like Clark Customs....When I got interested in BE the Ruger and Buckmark where my choices....I really liked the 7.5 inch Bullseye buckmark as well as the 5.5 Target but the aftermark support for ruger was a big factor in my choice .....Now sadly Browning has stopped producing those two models....Anyway if you like your gun and it shoots well ......its all good....

Marvel and 41's at the top make lots of sense since they have a very similar grip angle if not the exact same as the 1911. Then if you you consider the fact with the marvel you could use the same lower for the entire 2700 this makes lots of sense for some people.
I missed the poll but I would have added one vote to the Pardini. I am not surprised these are low on the line since I do not see many of them. The cost would keep many from getting one and they seem to favor more expensive ammo. For me the grip angle and trigger work really well for me and I like it better than my 208s.

Re: Poll Results: .22 Caliber Pistol That You Fire
Started shooting bullseye in the 80's. My first gun was a Buckmark. It was a good starter gun, but I literally wore it out inside of a year. These guns at least at that time counldnt handle the 1000's of rounds a beginning shooter puts through it. Next up was a used High Standard Victor. Nice target gun, could buy aftermarket grips..etc. I guess it had many rnds through it already, so the hammer notch wore out and at that time replacement parts were hard to find. Finally with a little cash in my pocket, I went for a Hammerli 215S. Finest pistol I ever shot. Shot it for over 15years. Got out of bullseye, sold it and a master shooter is still using it. Finest trigger I ever used. Got back into bullseye recently and bought a Walther GSP conversion, for the OSP I had. Nice gun, a little heavy. Accuracy at 50yds is no where near the Hammerli, and you have to run expensive ammo through it. Never should have sold the Hammerli. Oh well, live and learn.
