Distinguished Revolver Ammo
Can anyone confirm that you can shoot any safe ammo in Distinguished Revolver as long as the gun is capable of firing a 158 grain LRN? I ran across this thread:

Just wanted to make sure there weren't any updates since then.
Thanks!
Dave

Re: Distinguished Revolver Ammo
Good luck getting a straight, consistent answer on that one.
In a recent conversation with an NRA referee, the bullets must be 158 gr, either RN or SWC (HPSWC too, maybe) and they can not be jacketed or plated. Lead is a requirement although it does not say so in the May 2018 Rule Book. Polymer coated or HiTek coatings are not considered plated nor jacketed, so they are lead, thus OK.

Re: Distinguished Revolver Ammo
i'll have to get out my Clymer .38 swagng die and my 3/4 jackets and make up some 3/4 jacketed swaged buets to try.
or, just use those Magtech 158 RN that work so well...

Per CMP a year or so back, hollow points are not allowed.

and there you go, another inconsistency from referee to referee. However, doesn't DR come under NRA, not CMP?ric1911a1 wrote:Per CMP a year or so back, hollow points are not allowed.

Re: Distinguished Revolver Ammo
Lead 158gr SWC or RN, plating or coatings are ok but jacketed, RNFP, TC, HP, DEWC, WC are all no-go.
Debating on a 158gr SWC mold, would rather purchase a RNFP mold so I can cast for a lever action. I mean the RNFP is an old cowboy bullet after all and should predate the SWC but, as the rules currently stand; SWC or RN only.
