Player for range commands
My old MP3 player died, it was a small portable with ear buds, but extremely hard to figure out. Any recommendations for something easy to use?
thanks

I'm in the minority, I bought a hard box unit.

I use this because I hate the sensation of ear buts in my ears. http://www.targettimers.com/range_officer.html.
It's not cheap-$169, but I got mine used at a good price. I like it very much.
I use the phone with an app only when I want to do two shot drills.
The phone is also a PITA to get the button to press each and every time with dirty fingers after loading ammo, this unit has a commercial grade push button.

I'm the only one left on earth that doesn't have a smart phone, so I was looking at one of these.

Or get a smart phone and a Bluetooth speaker and one of the free apps. Or maybe we can round you up an old 80's boombox with some commands on a casette tape lol. Very retro!!

Those Target Timers are built in Ontario, Canada. Very well made. The local ranges all use either the small ones for audio commands or the big ones to control the turning target systems. Those boxes are now old enough to vote and they just keep on working. I've never heard of one giving any trouble.

I use this FREE APP with a bluetooth speaker when there are several of us or with my bluetooth earbuds when it is just me.

I use a mini iPod that clips to my shirt and I plug it into my ear input jack of my electronic muffs. Clean and contained and I don't subject other non BE shooters to listening to the commands. If practicing with my sons or others then I use a speaker

Try a Voice recorder ?
I got a $23±? RCA Voice recorder-can work with it's built-in speaker or earbuds. --- uses 2 AAA batts
Recorded my voice: "TIMED" - few second pause - "RIGHT" - 5-6 second pause - "LEFT" -- 5-6 second pause- "LINE" -3 second pause - "FIRE" - 20 second pause -"CEASE FIRE". --- -Same for "RAPID" but 10 second pause after "FIRE".
There's flip switch between Timed and Rapid.
One can record full T&R commands in one mode(I did, but don't use the full commands) -OR condensed T&R commands in another mode (above-which I use) - -- doesn't sound right?-erase & try again. -
