Tumble Lube versus Lube Sizer
Have any of you compared using tumble lube to a traditional lube sizer in the slower 45 loads we use.. Accuracy? Leading?
I've been using Lee push through sizers and tumble lubing with 45/45/10 lube. I'm pretty happy with this setup but there is always a little thought wondering if traditional lube sizing is that much better.

Jerry Keefer used & spoke highly of 45/45/10, that's all the proof I needed. When I have bullets with messy lube I remove it and tumble lube them and get great results.

I've been making another version of 45/45/10 using a 60/40 mix of liquid floor wax and LLA. Works great. I've gone to the push through sizer as well. Faster than the conventional method. I don't see any difference in accuracy.

For those of you who make your own 45/45/10, do you measure by (weight) ounces or fluid ounces? For example, if I want to make 10 ounces of lube, would I use 4.5 ounces of Johnson’s paste wax, melt it, add 4.5 ounces of LLA, let it cool off some and then add 1.0 ounce of mineral spirits? Or do you use fluid ounces? Or do you just eye ball it?
The reason I am asking is I have a bunch of LLA that I want to use. If I didn’t have it, I would probably just buy some 45/45/10.

Actually I forgot, what I use now isn't traditional 45/45/10, it's been coined "Ben's Liquid Lube". The recipe I've been using has Lee Liquid Alox, Johnson's "No Buff" Liquid Wax and a small mount of Mineral Spirts. Over time I have to add more MS as it seems to thicken some. Its much easier to make.

By volume, though I think it would be similar by weight.joy2shoot wrote:For those of you who make your own 45/45/10, do you measure by (weight) ounces or fluid ounces? That's really not a bad deal considering the cost of the Alox and wax. 32 ounces should last for a LOT of bullets, like up to 100k.dronning wrote:or if you don't want to mess with DIY:
