Air pistol match

Shot my second air pistol match in Palo Alto CA, both were 600 point matches. The first match I shot a 483 and came in 18th out of 21.  The best score was a 560.  The second match I shot a 501, don't know the top scores yet but the person who I scored shot a 556.  All of the shooters except me had fancy euro pre-charged pistols like Pardini's and Styers.  I just tried this for fun and got a FAS6004 which has a nice grip, sites and trigger but only about 375 FPS muzzle velocity at best so follow though is tough.  Lots of fun though and a very nice crowd.

It is not the gun, it is the shooter that can concentrate and hold best.  That said, I own one of each of the top guns....but I have them for shooters to try, since no one sells high end air pistols anywhere within 500 miles of where I live.

I agree, air pistol matches are a blast.

The fas can be improved.. check targettalk.  You'll find a thread describing how to improve the seal and increase velocity. I did it on my fas and it worked quite well

Thanks Jimmy G I did the tune up described on target talk and it helped quite a bit, after doing the tuneup I had to drop the rear sight 8 clicks and the pellets no longer bounced off the targets.  Before the tuneup the pistol was shooting a 7 grain pellet at 310 FPS according the the chrono from the retailer.  After I did the tune it was much better.

One other mod i did to mine was to add a trigger stop. I.simply glued a small.piece of rubber to the back of the trigger cut to length
