Would removing the LCI and magazine disconnect on a Ruger Mk III be a violation of rules about all safeties being operational? I ask because adding a bushing and an LCI filler basically just makes it a Mk II which is perfectly legal for competition.

Apologies for bumping this old thread, but could we get a second opinion on Ruger MkIII magazine disconnect feature removal being NRA legal?

There are threads on this board from 2014, 2015 stating that removing the mag disconnect was unequivocally non compliant. But there was also talk of petitioning the competition board, and new rule books (2018) have came out since those discussions.

Is the new consensus that the MkIII without the magazine disconnect (and loaded chamber indicator internals) will stand up to inspection?

I'd like to make my pistol as dependable as possible, including removing unnecessary complexity where allowed.

Thanks!

It’s legally not defined as a safety component.
Get it the hell out of there!
