Dillon Primer rod fix Empty Dillon Primer rod fix

On the bullseye list there was a discussion about the plastic rod that puts pressure on the primers so they feed smoothly, some feel its too light and are replacing with metal ones that are for sale.
Here is a cheap fix, that works and costs you nothing. Simply stick a 45 acp case on the end, it fits perfect and looks cool to boot. Dillon Primer rod fix 2935285009

I haven't found that the rod does anything to make the primer system more reliable, but it does let me know when I need to load more primers. Without the rod, the last couple of primers might not feed well by themselves--though my Hornady L-N-L has been excellent without and rod and only misfeeds the very last primer. Been using a Dillon rod in it for about 3 years just to get that last primer to feed--I know I could mark the rod for remaining primers, but simply haven't done it.

I have an original Square Deal. It didn't come with a primer alarm and have never felt the need for one. Seems redundant; pretty obvious when you're out of primers.
