I wanna put a red dot on a S&W model 625 - there are a couple of options out there for a mount. Just wondering if anyone has a preference? Any thing to stay away from?

Presuming you have a tapped top strap...I've been very happy with Weigand scope bases for S&W

Greetings,

Long ago, when I shot with a Red Dot on my 625 I used the Weaver base. Look for the one that has a step at the rear that locates in the removed sight area. This adds a bit of recoil resistance.

For rings, I used the Burris Steel Zee Rings. These are nice as you remove the two cross screws, slide the scope and rings off, then cleaning is much easier. Especially if you submerge the pistol in an ultrasonic cleaner.

The scope slides back on and very little change in zero.

Cheers,

Dave
