High Standard feeding
I this the High Standard Section?
I have a 74 Hamden Victor. Love the gun, but always had feeding problems. I bought other magazines and still not feeding. I would get prolems with a nose bent on the bullet, then I could not jam it in the chamber and if I did, it would not function until it was cleaned with a brush.
I bought different magazines. I adjusted them to the specs. Still feeding problems. I bought a new magazine from Alan with the red follower. This one worked the best of all, but still had occasional problems. Then I decided to try some european ammo. SK standard plus worked great. Eley will function perfect. So for the first time in many years I can get through a match with concern for an alabi. I got thorugh all of last season with out a malunciton of any kind. It was amazing. I got the award for top score for the year in rimfire.
I am now wondering if Ibought a new barrel if it would feed CCI SV. As of now it will not. They will not even Plunk in a spotless clean chamber.
Ppaying big bucks for the european ammo. I shoot 50 feet in the winter, CCI SV would be great especially at $259.00 a case delivered to my door.
I love this gun and have had it for almost 30 years. It will be handed down to my daughter. She now shoots Buckmark, so does my wife.
Maybe I could get the chamber checked? Should I just buy a new barrel?
There is no burr from dry firing because I don't dry fire that gun, and I looked.

David if you are.shooting a dot i will say the wifes 107 loved CCI in her LSP barrel. Very reliable but that is a 107 verses a Victor.. sounds like you have a chamber on the tight side of spec

Re: High Standard feeding
I have a hi standard and found the lips of the mag had to be just right. I also found that if I relieved the bottom of the chamber with a dremel enough to take the sharpness of the bottom edge off it helps. Be careful not to take too much off though

Polished Feed Ramp from Allan's shop
I was having intermittent feeding problems. Dissembled slide cleaned and used Wolff springs. Better, but still wouldn't feed CCI SV reliably. So I sent gun to Allan: they polished feed ramp and changed all springs with their kit. 10 day turn around. Solved the problem. 150 rounds so far of 4 brands. I use LSP barrels on both of my 107's.
Very satisfied.

Re: High Standard feeding
LSp barrel ordered yesterday. Just a few bucks shipping, no sales tax.
Will report when I get it.
I am going to put a scope on the factory barrel and compare it to LSP barrel @ 50 yards.
Thank you for the help

Re: High Standard feeding
Don't ignore the springs. Conventional wisdom is to replace the driving (recoil) spring every ten thousand rounds (or so), or if the total round count is unknown since the spring was last replaced.
I managed to replace my driving spring, as well as firing pin and extractor springs without much drama, and the gun behaved much better after doing so.
Your observation that a round will not plunk into the chamber is important as well, it seems. Either the chamber is dirty, or possibly very slightly deformed from firing pin impact due to dry fire. Do you see an impact dimple? My 103 series gun runs best when the chamber is scrupulously clean, and CCI SV (the only ammo I use in this gun) plunks in and falls out easily.

Re: High Standard feeding
I replaced all the springs less than a thousand rounds ago. No dimple. I put a scope on it today and shot some 5 shot groups at 50 yards. All were about an inch or less. I was feeding one at a time, wolf match and CCI SV. New barrel arrived today. Once I get a rail mounted I will report accuracy.
I believe that I can not hold any smaller than an inch. I use a Hyscore pistol rest with a small sandbag under the Butt to keep from shaking left and right.
