Ammo Shortages
I still have a reasonable amount of ammo for all my calibers, but last night I decided to get more CCI 22 SV ammo, hoping it would work better than before. I was rather surprised to find every source I know of (not that many) was sold out. Then I started looking for other things I might use if I start reloading 45 and 38. Gee, that was sold out as well. I've got a little less than half a one-pound jar, but I ordered another from Bass Pro Shops "just in case".
I guess I'm an idiot - with all the other things that are getting impossible to buy, I should have ordered the ammo long ago. I used to buy Eley ammo from the CMP bulk ammo, but I think the whole CMP website is on the verge of closing as well. Not sure, after I couldn't find what I wanted, I stopped looking.
I'm not sure how long I'll be able to shoot at all. The club I belong to has canceled all matches and meetings, but left the range open for members. If they shut that down, the only firing I will be doing for a while is dry-firing.
The point of entering this thread, is to let others know that ammo for sale seems to be vanishing. One more victim of the virus. (.....and if someone knows of a good place to buy several bricks of 22 SV, please let me know.)

For CCI SV, try Champions Choice, they had lots as of this morning when I checked. I ordered two cases last week and it arrived Saturday. their Price per case is good, shipping is more than average. I think it worked out to $275 per case for both cases delivered to my door.

Re: Ammo Shortages
I started shooting Bullseye in 2012 when all of sudden everything was short. Once I learned how much shooting I was actually going to be doing, I learned to get my supplies up on everything to at least a two year level. Since Perry is a large part of my re-supply I figured I needed to be able to miss a year and still not run out. I have applied that same philosophy to all my shooting endeavors so a short term blip doesn't put me in a pinch.

Thank you 'CraigB5940'. I was able to place the order, but I think there will be a delay before I receive it. From the opening page of the website:CraigB5940 wrote:For CCI SV, try Champions Choice, they had lots as of this morning when I checked. +1 plus when you add in the "I forgot I had that and buy more" to the equation then your coverage goes waaay up.weber1b wrote:I started shooting Bullseye in 2012 when all of sudden everything was short. Re: Ammo Shortages
Champions Choice - either someone is working anyway, or they have a good automated system. I just got my order confirmation.
F.Y.I.:
price: 100 boxes of 50 - $228.
Shipping: $41.67
Total: 269.67
Everywhere else I looked I found "not available" or "sold out, no backorder".
There's no delivery date, but I've still got a brick plus more, some of different brands.
I sure hope it's "good" CCI, not the troublesome stuff I got before.
Once more, thank you to Craig.

Mike, glad you got an order in, now if only my club did not close the indoor ranges but the home Air Pistol range is back in business until then!

Jim - at least it says "You may still use the club as individuals". If it's only open to members, and if it's like my club, it won't get very crowded, and will (hopefully) remain a safe place to go.

Re: Ammo Shortages
My outdoor range is closed for organized activity and to guests but at least the members have a place to get outdoors and to shoot without endangering themselves or others.

+1 on this.
2012 was my first time to go through an ammo shortage and it only took once to learn the lesson.
Set your reserve/inventory based on your shooting and purchase from then on to keep at that level.

Re: Ammo Shortages
I got lucky, ordered my .22 LR ammo back in January. One case of match ammo, and two cases of plinking ammo. I should be fine for at least a year, maybe longer. Plenty of bullets and powder for reloading. I am however running low on small pistol primers, 500 maybe. Guess I dropped the ball on that one. Might have to ration myself for a period of time.

Re: Ammo Shortages
I am ok for now but since I have joined a private indoor range I have been running almost 500 22 per week and at that rate my supply will be out before things return to normal. I am going to have to modify my training and practice.

Plenty of good ammo available still at Target Sports including SK Plus, Wolf Match, Federal Gold Medal, SP Pistol Match and several Lapua options.

About things returning to normal, the following is worth reading:Allen Barnett wrote:......... I have been running almost 500 22 per week and at that rate my supply will be out before things return to normal. I am going to have to modify my training and practice.

A lifetime ago, Larry Brilliant used to be a very good friend. But for him, my life would be very different.
It's difficult for me to think that I'll be stuck in my room for a year to come, no shooting, no matches, no nothing.
My home is in Miami Beach, and as of now, everyone has been told to shelter in place. I ordered a case of ammo anyway, but I expect it's going to be a very long time before I get to use it. I'm hoping that I'm allowed to use my outdoor range again before all this virus problem is over, as an outdoor range, without that many people around, should be very safe. My life may not go back to "normal" for a very long time, but I hope by Summer I can be shooting again.

Re: Ammo Shortages
Funny but I was looking for some CCI SV as well and Friday Champions Choice had plenty with prices that were not crazy out of line. I was going to order but there are instructions on there that say if you are in Illinois, you will need to call. It was late in the afternoon so I figured I would order this morning but low and behold, they are shutting down for a couple weeks.
Figures.
This virus is getting out of hand.
