Any interest in a Lane Commands App?
First topic message reminder :
I am thinking of writing or funding an iphone app that integrates lane commands with a visual countdown timer.
Basically, you would hit the "Timed Fire" button and the Timed Fire Range commands would be spoken, there would be a beep, and then a countdown timer is visible on the phone. When it hits zero, another beep. There would be a slow fire and rapid fire button as well.
My plan would be to have this as a free app for Apple iOS products. Is anyone interested in this, or is it just me?
Let me know before I waste time/money doing this.
Best,
dsd

Re: Any interest in a Lane Commands App?
At first I thought I wouldn't be interested and using the mp3's from John Dryer were fine. After seeing what it is going to look like and it beeing an app I can open and not have music blaring in my ears when I hit a wrong button sounds good to me. Looks very well done. I will give it a try.

Anatoly
I just loaded your app on to my 'droid.
Very nice.
Will come in handy when practicing alone outdoors!
ddivins,
Do you have an app in the App Store as well?
If yes what's it called?
Thanks to you both!

Can't wait!! I'm currently using John Dryer's MP3 commands on my iPhone (after the dedicated MP3 player i had conked out) and this would seem to be a much superior app for the Apple devices. I do like the sound and cadence of the Dryer commands. /MK

Video of Android App prototype. I'll probably have it up this weekend. Still waiting for Apple to review the iPhone app...

Re: Any interest in a Lane Commands App?
David,
Your command sequence is way too fast... supposed to be ~3 seconds between commands.
Rule 10.7:
Commands controlling the start of the firing sequence commencing with "Ready on the Right" should have approximately a 3 second interval between firing line commands.
and
The Range Officer will then command, "READY ON THE FIRING LINE". In approximately 3 seconds the targets will be exposed, or the signal to commence firing will be given.

Re: Any interest in a Lane Commands App?
Anatoly, that is an excellent app!
If I may suggest, a pause button on the range commands to allow waiting for shooters to be ready!
otherwise, excellent!

It's waiting for Apple's approval. I submitted on 2/22 and I hear it takes about a week. Android does not have such a review process thus the instant publish.

I loaded Anatoly's app on my Droid and used it on Sat. It works great through ear buds under my ear muffs. A vast improvement over the boom box I was using before . Thank you!

Any chance for an updated version with range drills?

I am not familiar with these range drills. Do they follow the same script and cadence just different shot count and timings?
Droid development seems much more complicated than iPhone development. I just did a turnkey on the Android app, vs the iPhone app that I can maintain.
Tell me more...

I picked up a pair of Sync hearing protection from Howard Leigth for ~$22 on Amazon. They are 25NRR and have a 3.5mm jack built in-- no batteries.

Re: Any interest in a Lane Commands App?
I've got a pair of noise cancellation headphones which lets me hear the audio loud and clear. Check some of those out.
Re: Any interest in a Lane Commands App?
Dave,
I downloaded your app as well onto my Droid. Functions great, great audio, easy to use. Any Bullseye Shooter with a smart phone is going to want these apps! Thanks again to both you and Anatoly.
