It's not gun broker as much as a sign of the times. It is totally nuts to me too. Fortunately I am good for now.

Re: Gun brokers prices
I guess that I am naive, or maybe just old fashioned.
I get it that we are in unprecedented times and the laws of supply/demand rule, but I just hate it when some of the vendors are just "taking the pi...". IMHO
But, I suppose that if there is a customer willing to pay the price, then the vendor is not "cheating" anyone.
Very sad though.
I built up a reasonable stash of components and 22 ammo early in the COVID period, might have paid slightly over "best price", but am happy. I would be more comfortable if I had a couple more cases of SPP's, but I've probably got more than enough to survive.
I'm in the market to buy up LPP's just to have a few extra bricks to pass on to new shooters who are wanting to get into Bullseye. But only at a sensible price - time will tell.

How can individuals ship primers or ammo to other individuals?

Ammo is not a problem
Primers need a hazmat sticker

Re: Gun brokers prices
I remember when, during the last "crisis" "Cheaper Than Dirt" charged extremely high prices for hard to get ammo. They are still in business, so I guess the consumers just don't care. It looks like $100.00/ 1,000 primers is pretty much the going rate now. Last year, they were going for around $32.00/ 1,000. At least gasoline is cheap for now. It'll be interesting to see how much it goes up in the next few years.

Re: Gun brokers prices
Thanks for pointing that out. I have not shopped for primers in a while. I have enough.
I did look for 115 HAP for my 9mm. I checked 9 pages of websites. None available. All back order. Had to switch to lead.
I got caught last time. It won't happen again. I have a few primers and some powder. I have a spare case of rimfire My wife and I will be able to shoot right through the tough times.
OK, I just went to my favorite ammo website. Looked up rimfire ammo. Clicked the box "In stock only". NOTHINHG came up.

Re: Gun brokers prices
It's also a way to launder money. Buy something from your friends at outrageous prices snd bingo, clean money.
Fake bidders can also spur real bidders into paying more than they should thinking that's the going rate...
Or maybe not. There were 2 packages at a local shop. I left them for others. Enought stuff comes my way anyways....that, l never turn down.

I looked into this a bit.
You cannot ship primers, ammo, or powder via US Post Office. Getting caught is bad. ($$$$$)
One, have a FEDEX or UPS account.
Two, attend a USDOT HAZMAT class and get a HAZMAT certification. ($$$$)
Now you are legal to ship powder, primers, and other HAZMAT items.
Oh yes, you need to re-certify every few years. It is not good forever.
Cheers,
Dave
