CMP Eley standard vel. bulk
First topic message reminder :
I ordered a case of the Eley bulk Standard velocity
from CMP on Oct.13th.
It was delivered today.
Hopefully it will function acceptable in my Pardini BE.
A pistol team member has been using it with good results
but in a High Standard.
I will be testing later today.

Re: CMP Eley standard vel. bulk
Test results are good, 1K rounds spent now, equally through my Pardini SP and Marvel Unit1, one failure to feed for each gun, this is as good or better than CCI SV in my opinion.
An interesting bonus, my Marvel Unit 1 would need a drop of oil on top of the first round for every other magazine for about 100 rounds AFTER it was cleaned to be reliable. So far, no such quirk with the drop of oil trick with this ammo for the Marvel Unit 1 which is nice!

Re: CMP Eley standard vel. bulk
I have now shot a box after receiving my two cases. 11 rounds did not fire on 1st strike. The strike, when the round doesn't go off, is very deep and much deeper than the strikes when rounds go bang. If I rotate the round it would go bang most times. Have experienced the FTF in two guns. I dont think the rim is fully filled with primer compound. 2% failure rate not a big deal for use as practice ammo.
Pleased with 50yd accuracy in the Pardini and Nelson.

Re: CMP Eley standard vel. bulk
I am on my second box and have had zero issues.
I had shot Agiula blue box and had good performance through
four cases over a few years but the last case i purchased in April has had
light charges that do not cycle the Pardini. This has resulted in failure to
pick up the next round in the mag and has failed to cock the hammer at times.
The message I take from this is that you can have good performing ammo for
case after case and if a powder measure station on the loading gets out of calibration
a bunch of cases will get out of the door with light loads.
I guess you get what you pay for too.
Before the plague Agiula was $179 a case.

I ordered two cases (5K) of the CMP Eley STD velocity on 11/18.
They invoice my credit card on 12/15. Fed -X delivered on 12/21.
That was my Christmas gift to myself. Will be plinking away for awhile.

Re: CMP Eley standard vel. bulk
I'm 700 rounds deep into my first case. Shooting it in a nelson. Zero issues, even when pulling the gun and ammo out of the cool truck over lunch. I intentionally shot the cold gun/cold ammo (not real cold, only about 10F) to see if 8t would function. Didn't expect it too, but it did... ive even packed it in cci plastic boxes to see if the lube dries out (it does) and if it affects functioning... it does not...
I'm happy with it and would trade cci sv for it anyday...

Re: CMP Eley standard vel. bulk
I have to check I pulled some out too if it dries out it does not dry out fast. I like the ammo so far no complaints though I will change guns from a Ruger to an Xesse, One guy at my club had an issue with an Walther SSP which I do not think is a fair test bed.10sandxs wrote:I'm 700 rounds deep into my first case. So far I sold to folks at my club that are running Hammerli, Browning, Ruger, High Standard and across the board no complaints. Out of my Rugers it was definitely as accurate if not more so than CCI SV Old Stock.
+1 I do not think it is as temperature sensitive as CCI or Aquila.

CMP bulk/500 white wrapper
I have the opportunity to pick up 500 rounds of CMP standard 500 rounds in a white wrapper . By chance does anyone on this forum have experience with this ammo in a Smith and Wesson model 41?

As of today, the CMP Eley bulk 22 ammo is no longer listed on the website. Are they out, or have they stopped selling it in bulk?

I thought I would place an order yesterday, not expecting it to be delivered for some time, but the listing was completely removed. I wish they had some kind of waiting list, but maybe they don't expect to have any more for a long time?

Re: CMP Eley standard vel. bulk
I ordered a case of CMP Eley on 11 November and was advised on 17 December I needed to update my credit card; I did within minutes. I did not receive a response so I emailed then called; still no response. Shortening the story, eleven days later after several emails and phone calls I was told there was no more ammo even though there were 99 cases listed as available at the time I ordered. I was also advised they did not know when more ammo would be available. I also asked to be put on the list for the next round of ammo; still no response. I've dealt with the CMP for years and always found the Customer Service to be outstanding. What happened?

Are you talking about the Civilian Marksmanship Program, CMP??? In my experience, "Outstanding" is certainly not the word I would use for thier customer service (or lack thereof)
