Would you adjust the red dot?
http://www.mikemargolis.com/Targets112720.pdf
This was two 300's at 50 feet this morning.
I feel like I am generally a bit low and to the right. (Pardini SP and Matchdot Ultradot II)
But is it enough to move one click up and one click left?
(I know, I could try it, but I don't like messing with stuff that isn't really broken)
Anyway, if this were your gun and targets, would you move it or leave it alone?

Before you make a change double and triple check your body alignment.

With all due respect, you spent more time and effort posting the photos and the question than it would have taken just to make the sight adjustment and find out.
Fear not the screwdriver.

If you are hesitant, make the adjustment, make note of how much you adjusted. If the result is not what you want you can always move it back.

Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
If I bench rest the gun, and the group is centered, that would tell me that I'm doing something to move the group.
When training I would work to determine what that is and learn to correct it. In a match for score I'd grab the screwdriver.

One click at 50’ is only a feel good.
Be aggressive.
3 clicks about 1/2

Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
The pdf at the Ultradot website notes that "one click changes Point of impact 1/2 MOA at 100 yds and 1/4 MOA at 50 yds". I will leave it to others to consider the trigonometry of that statement , but let's say 1 click at 50' does nearly nothing. Are you left-handed? Anticipation can account for low right shots.

Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
A master level shooter will make a sight adjustment, foot adjustment, trigger finger or grip adjustment immediately! Got to stay in the 10 to shoot a 10. The screwdriver is your friend....one click is better than no click. Think of it in terms of left 10 or right 10, or high 10 or low 10 because of worst case you moved out of the X a click. I've had failure to make simple sight change cost me 890's for one 5 shot string being shifted without fast correction. So make the change.

On the first target and disregarding the two 7s, your groups ar3 low and to the right. You have more targets low and right than centered and none high left. Move the sights, 3 up and 3 right! An 8 high left is worth exactly the same as an eight low right.

Are the shots on call? If they are then it's a technique issue, if not then adjust that dot.

Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
Don't be afraid of the adjustments unless they are defective. (And, then consider getting them fixed.) I've even adjusted my sight to move groups around in the X. But, it really depends on your goal and setting. In a match, never try fixing your process, unless you know exactly what to do. Instead, adjust your sight. In training, you might make process adjustments.
Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
If it's an average group for the shooter; then adjust the sights to move the group.
If it's more of a shot pattern; then adjust the shooter to get a group.

I agree about making an adjustment, but on my two Match Dots one up and one left is all that would be needed.
I know about want the manual says as to amount of change, but what I get is different.

Something I do is to put a slow fire target in back of a slow fire target , then in back of the timed target and same for the rapid target. Then adjust group.

Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
Thanks for the advice everybody. I did adjust the dot this morning, and shot a good practice session.
Will shoot again Monday, and then have a 300 match on Wednesday. I am quite happy with where it is now (one click left and two clicks up)

Another bit of sage advice that I often received was "one click on the gun, two in the head".
Quite often, one target later, I'd get the advice: "Nice target, kid. Get yer X-count up."

Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
Thanks for all the advice, guys.
After adjusting the scope, I shot two 300's in practice this morning.
@285wannab I LOVED your idea, and put a B-3 target behind all six targets, and came up with this:
I have one more practice session on Wednesday morning before Wednesday evening's match. According to TargetScan, I will make one click to the right and do this again on Wednesday morning, and then see how it looks before the match.
Again, thanks everybody!

Re: Would you adjust the red dot?
I personally have found that scoping shots without willing to make an adjustment (sight, grip, stance) is a waste of time. If I call the shot and it is not on call, I revaluate my grip, stance, ect. if that is all good, the screws on the sights get turned as necessary. Typically this helps me find out if I forgot to set my 50yrd elevation with my 45.mikemargolis wrote:I do, and I can generally call them before I look.chiz1180 wrote:Mike,
