Fire brush what is it?
I have read some references to the term "fire brush" when talking about barrel/chamber maintenance. I cant find anything describing what it is though and what it is specifically for.
Anyone care to offer some clues?

Recent thread on model 52 describes it.
Cigar lighter or low jet flame on a propane torch run up the barrel for about 5 seconds then brush and clean with solvent.
Heat flux through the deposits breaks them loose. Bbl only gets warm.
Good luck, works wonders for leading
Typo " correctd"

I wonder if this thread should also contain a warning about doing fire brushing in well ventilated area?

Never seen any issues there. Some care in handling a torch or flame is warranted tho.
Kroil is your other friend. It isn't promoted enough but on a tight patch, it cuts through stuff in rifles that you normally just run over and not remove.
Wear gloves this stuff is serious.

How can something that smells so good possibly be bad?bruce martindale wrote:Kroil is your other friend. It isn't promoted enough but on a tight patch, it cuts through stuff in rifles that you normally just run over and not remove.

It's about the lead. It pays to be careful and ventilate well. That stuff adds up in the body.

A running joke I had with my teammates was if you weren't getting a letter from the state stating your lead level were to high then you weren't practicing enough.
