SW22 Victory Rear Sight repair question
S&W repaired some bolt components that blew out of the pistol while firing. Good to go service there, except they returned the pistol without the elevation components of the rear sight. (screw, spring, and nut were missing). Poor Q/A inspection of the pistol before they sent it back. I got them to just send me the parts, but there is no obvious place where the elevation screw nut should go into the sight base or the blade itself.
Not sure how those three components are supposed to go back into the sight blade. My guess is that the screw goes through the blade, the nut onto the screw and then the spring around the screw shaft--screw that into the base?
Multiple searches didn't turn up a how two and there is no schematic for the pistol on Brownell's nor on the Smith and Wesson site for this model.
Anyone else loose the elevation screw, nut and spring at some point and do a self repair?
Would appreciate any info on how these parts are supposed to go together before we head out to the range to re-zero the weapon.

Re: SW22 Victory Rear Sight repair question
What you need to do is remove the rear sight plate; remove the single Torx head screw (using a T10 driver) holding the sight plate in place and slide the assembly to the rear and it will come off. Once off you will see a small hexagonal divot on the underside of the sight base; this is where the small hex nut goes and is held captive:
You simply place the small nut in the hexagonal hole:
...then flip the rail over taking care not to dislodge the nut, push down on the sight all the way, insert the height adjustment screw until it catches the threads of the nut (don't cross thread it), then reinstall the sight rail onto the top of the receiver and replace the Torx screw that holds it in place. You're now ready to sight in your SW22

Re: SW22 Victory Rear Sight repair question
Thank you for the pictures and the reply. That explains were the nut goes, and since I'd not removed the base from the receiver, I suspect there will still be one there.
Where does the spring for the rear sight elevation go? Around the height adjustment screw shaft? Or is there no spring used in the height adjustment components, between the nut and the inside top of the rear sight blade and the height adjustment screw?

Re: SW22 Victory Rear Sight repair question
With the rear sight height adjustment screw removed, the sight may be tilted upwards (green arrow) which will reveal two holes in the sight base; the rear hole (red arrow) is where the height adjustment screw goes through the sight & sight base and threads into the small hex nut under the sight base:
...and the hole towards the front is where the small spring is placed:
That small spring fits tightly in its hole in the sight, so care must be taken when placing it in position. Make sure it's positioned straight up and down and not leaning to the side else it will be crushed sideways when the sight is lowered and won't allow the sight to go to it's lowest position.
Have fun, and welcome to the forum
