Bullet Diameter OK for K38 Revolver
Hi All,
I am having a leading problem with my K38 revolver. I am shooting lead HBWC from Roze with a diameter of .358. When I take one of the bullets and drop it down the cylinders it stops at the throat. I can push it through easily and it feels like most of the resistance is from very minimal contacts with the bullet and possibly the lube. Is this the correct diameter bullet for this revolver? Should I be using a .359 or .360, one which would take some effort to push through the throats?
Best,
Joe

Swirl a little Lee Liquid Alox in accordance with the directions on some bullets and reshoot. Some of the aftermarket Swaged HBWC can be a bit thin on lube in some circumstances.

The leading problem has been going on for awhile. Here is the original post about the issues I have had with some pictures....
Help with Revolver Leading (bullseyeforum.net)
Some possibilities include the alignment is off and the bullets are hitting the forcing cone. I dont see lead smearing on one side of the cone which makes me think the bullet is going straight down the barrel.
The throats are too large for the bullets. This results in hot gas rushing past the bullet and melting the lead. The melted lead is then sprayed all over the gun.
The charge is too low preventing the hollow base from properly expanding.
I am using Roze distribution reloads. The bullet is 148 gr HBWC. The speed is ~ 730 fps so I would assume about 2.8 bullseye?
