VV N310 in 148 gr. WC
I was bored an was looking in the archives of the 148 gr. loads. I have loaded this round for years with Bullseye an WST powder. A year ago or so, I loaded 2-300 rounds of the 148 gr. Star HBWC bullet with 2.7 gr. of VV N310. Shooting in my S/W M52-1 pistol. No problems. Is there a problem using VV N310 in this round? Thanks, David H.

I use 2.5 gr of N310 with 147-class 9mm bullets and it works well. Soft accurate load. Needs a lighter recoil spring.

Not a problem since N310 has the same burn rate as BE. It's just twice the price of BE. On the plus side it's much cleaner than BE. As a general rule I use WST for lead bullets and N310 for jacketed.

Super light will not cycle my PPQ which Is why I went with CFE but yeah It is a nice recoil impulse.pgg wrote:I use 2.5 gr of N310 with 147-class 9mm bullets and it works well. Soft accurate load. Needs a lighter recoil spring.

Re: my M52s
It isn't as accurate as AA2, BE, or Red Dot.
It seems to generate pressure spikes.
Test it and see if your M52 likes it.
2.4-2.6gn seemed best

Following - I currently use Titegroup for my Model 52 loads, but I use N310 for my .45 loads, so I might give it a try.

Here is the basis for me advising NOT to use N310 in 38 Special.

N310 is touchy going from 15000 psi to 18000 in 0.2 grains and only increasing velocity by 40 fps! There was a poster in the linked thread that reported he had a skirt separation in his 52 with 310.

I load it, haven't had any issues. As with any fast powder, work up slowly in small increments. I have found excellent accuracy in my wheel guns with N310 and a 148.
