Downsizing; Help me decide which 45s to dump
I don't need all these 45s. Serious shooting days are mostly over.
Is the RO a stronger gun for real HB than the GC?
I have a B-load of 230 FMJ to shoot up
What should I keep?
Gold Cup from 1963. I have a 50y Ransom target of 7 shots under 2". Roddy worked the trigger some
Colt Govt model from about 1980. All original
2 Range Officers. Both like new. either unfired or hardly any shots. Very good triggers.
I am keeping for now:
2 Roddy made wad guns, one was HB.
1 Roddy made lower for a Nelson or AA
1 Range Officer lower for same

You always keep the ones with the best triggers and smallest groups until the coffin closes. If it doesn't have both, pass it on now.

I would use the heaviest slide pistol. If GC is lightened I wouldn’t use to shoot real ball. You might crack the slide.

Jack.
Sell all of your 230 hard ball now, at a substantial premium, to the "run and gun" crowd.
That stuff will just give you tendonitis! And wear out otherwise good guns.
If you are still a reloader and have primers, load some nice soft 160 or 180 lswc ammo for plinking or casual competing.
Words to the wise!

Now I recall hearing about GC slides being lightened. I looked under the GC slide and the govt model. The GC is cut out to where you can see the extractor underneath. Same deepening on the other side of the FP tunnel. That is a significant amount of meat cut out.
What do you think it is worth?
50y Ransom

Pull the ball and replace with a 185 jkt hp Or reduce the charge to 4.0 and reseat. Test and repeat, it isn't an artillery event anymore.

That, and find a. new upcoming shooter to mentor and transfer to.
I am planning on that myself

I would tend to get rid of the Gold Cup. It has some collector value.
Since you have accurized guns there is no need to shoot the Government modep so it goes.
You really don't need 2 Range officers.
