Anyone ever use this bullet in a 1911? Feeding issues? Accuracy? Intrigued by the bearing surface length.

I used to shoot with a fellow who had this mold and shot it indoors. He called it his "ripper" bullet. If the target was not on a cardboard backer it was impossible to score. He shot it in an old Gold Cup. As I remember it fed well but I hated trying to score his targets.

Interesting. I figured it would cut nice clean holes... Good to know!

I am really happy with the 452460. It cut clean holes like a hole punch. The only problem is my mold is two cavity, should have sprung for the four.

I don't cast my own, but been very happy with the Zero 185 HPLSWC. Was curious what a bullet closer to a full wadcutter shape (with longer bearing length) could do at low velocity out of a 45.

One of the longest “bearing length” cast 45s is the H&G 130. Not many commercial casters make these. I have some and a 4cavity SAECO clone. They shoot OK.

Interesting. Reason I ask is they're available from a caster up in Vermont:

I've gotten 9mm (well, really, 38) from him in the past, and they shot well. Maybe I'll order some and see how it goes.

I never had any luck with "button nosed" .45 ACP, 185 grain lead bullets. They never grouped that well for me at 50 yards. They also wouldn't feed well. It seems like magazines need to be adjusted for these "shorties". On the other hand, I never had any problem with factory 185 gr. match ammo. Go figure! I did know some exceptional shooters who used them with great success.

I've got a custom moe mold based on the brazos style 160, but with no lube groovesand a longer bearing surface. It comes in at nearly 200. But i haven't had a chance to to seriously test yet they seem to shoot well, but I haven't tested yet.
