Hämmerli 215 relining.
I have a 215 that I bought last year. Finally tested a few ammos with it outdoors and the results were pretty bad. Multiple brands of good ammo tried and at 50 yards it’s quite dismal. Anyway, is there a way to get the barrel off this thing or do I just have to send the whole gun to get it relined?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Send COMPLETE pistol to Dave Sams. He’s the best in my opinion at doing the 208 liner. I’ve had many pistols done by him and am 100% satisfied.

Although Jon's is a good suggestion, I'll add a little more as to why:
The barrel does unscrew from the frame, but the break point is within the flat sides and top area. Depending on whether you are a perfectionist in how your guns look, you may not like the final "fit and finish" if you remove and replace the barrel. Larry Carter told me that the mating is surface ground after the barrel is mounted to get that almost invisible look of the break line on the sides. Additionally, remember that the extractor notch will have to line up between the barrel and frame well enough that the extractor doesn't hit an edge. In order for that to work, you either need the barrel portion to be made a little wide or do the finish cut after replacing the barrel, unless you can get really precise in aligning when you reinstall.
David Sams is a good suggestion, but you could also check with Alex Hamilton at Ten-Ring Precision in Texas. Jerry Keefer used to recommend him.

Thank you, I have an email sent to Sams, waiting to hear back. Ten-Ring did my 41 and it's what I was comparing the 215 to. 41 had a nice group all in the X ring. 215….not so much. Another Hämmerli shooter here in Ohio recomended Sams also. I was hoping barrel removal was not the chore I thought it might be. Beyond my skill set:)

Re: Hämmerli 215 relining.
I have a question for those that have had liners put into their Hammerli pistols. I used to have a 208S that was perfectly reliable with SK/Lapua ammunition, it shot well with these brands. But, the 208S LOVED Eley ammunition. Unfortunately it would gum up after 20-30 rounds and would require the chamber to be brushed to remain reliable. With the new liner and chamber are your guns finicky about ammunition?

Another Sams recommendation. I had him reline the Benelli MP95 that I use for distinguished 22. It is at least as accurate as my Pardini.

Sams received my Hämmerli this week. Should get it back in 8-10 weeks. He's going to detail strip and lube it also.

I just picked it up today at Fed Ex. Test target with CCI is under 1" from a machine rest at 50 yards. I expect it will do better with premium ammo. The work is impeccable. He polished the feed ramp and detail stripped/lubed it also. Tuned the magazine I sent w it. I'm taking it to Canton tomorrow.
