Problem finding red dot
I shoot both the 1911 Gold Cup and the Hammerli x-esse both are equipped with an UltraDot red dot sight. No matter how I adjust my hand on the pistol grip, I have to break my wrist to the right to find and center the red dot. This is not a neutral or natural position and it reflects in my scores. I never had this problem with iron sights. Can't find a way to correct this issue.

If you aren't already try standing at right angle to the target. Worked for me.

Use your feet instead of your arm to find correct angle for your stance. If you need to break wrist to the right, most likely you are standing at sub-45 degrees towards target. Try rotating your feet counter clockwise and stand more perpendicular (blade) towards target raising your arm more laterally against target.

Are you right or left handed - which one holds the gun?
Are you right eye or left eye dominant?
These questions will help to provide some answers.

We're assuming the dot has been sighted in- dot is the point-of-impact, right?

Reposition the grip? Maybe move to a shorter trigger?

If you do the same actions with an iron sighted pistol, what does the alignment look like?
