I have a Model 106 Supermatic Citation my dad won at the 1966 (also year of manufacture) USCG Sectionals. I also have 2 Victors, a 1975 and a 1978. On the lower part of the heel of the Citation is a brass or gold insert in the shape of a bullet.

The insert is completely thru into the magwell:

What was this for, if anything other than ornamental? My Victors do not have this.

The 106 is often called the golden bullet guns, because they were made using slant grip fixtures, which made the drill bit for the mainspring exit the back of the grip. The hole was filled in with brazing, and then stippled and blackened to match closley, but as they wear, you see what appears to be a gold bullet in the butt of the grip. The 107 was made using new fixtures, and thus eliminated.
