So sorry to hear of his passing.  We have lost another great icon of bullseye shooting and one of those people you just don't forget when you meet them at Perry.  Entertaining and interesting, Ed was always a fixture at Larry's picnic.   I will remember our conversations fondly. We are diminished.  Aloha.

I think I'll go and review my journals to find some of Ed's comments so I can relive the conversations. And shooting the Dragon Gun!

So sad to hear of Ed's passing.
As CR stated, we are indeed diminished.
Had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times at Perry.

Ed was one of a kind. His sage wisdom was a mainstay of the old email Bullseye-L. He was a wizard with the 1911 and yet humble and always acknowledging those he learned from along the way. I learned so much from him and the few dealings I had with him displayed his strong character.

Truely the passing of an era.  Both of my Masaki 1911's have withstood the test of time and still function as well as they did when I recieved them from him 20 years ago.

Awwww so sorry. He was a gem. A true friend both personally and of the sport. He gave encouragement and will to win.

As a jeweler He brought unique skills to his craft and shared with us how he carefully thought out what was to be. He brought a most unusual ring that he made for his wife. He could do most anything

Aloha Mr Miyagi

My condolences, may he rest in peace.

I never met him, but I hold his legacy every time I shoot my Masaki 1911.

Sorry to hear this. I shot with Ed at Canton and Camp Perry for years. I have a great picture of me and him shooting together at Canton in 2009, although I can't find it right now.

We are diminished.

I never met him, yet this pistol made me so happy when I first saw it.  All I could think of was the imagination, guts, and craftsmanship required to bring this project into the world. I was a jeweler and love working on target pistols as well.  The two trades fit together surprisingly well!

I'm pretty sure it's on the Facebooks, and I think my wife took it, so she may have it somewhere. Let me see what I can do.

Ed was a special person I enjoyed getting to know a little at Camp Perry over the years.  He will be missed.  I put together some pictures I took of Ed and have them in a Dropbox file for anyone interested.

Ed Masaki has left the range Empty Ed Masaki RIP my Friend

Post by Jdrickards 9/3/2022, 4:23 am

The below Dropbox link has a number of my photos of Ed.  We became friends when I worked on Range 3 from 2000 to 2010 as a Block Officer, ACRO and CRO.  I cherish knowing him and owning one of his Dragon Guns.
My prayers are for his family but cherish memories of his life.

Being the "slightly taller Ed" in the first picture in the Jdrickards 2010, set, I remember him getting me to help demonstrate how we could use the same firing point, with him in a shooting stance under my arm, as I stood the same.  He was always fun and will be sorely missed.
