Alliant Sport powder Empty Alliant Sport powder

Post by TGADDIS76 10/30/2022, 8:39 pm

Hello, I had switch powders as I couldn't find what I normally use, so I picked up this Alliant Sport Pistol powder and the seller says I could use to load my 9mm, 380, and 40 s&w. All my bullets are Hornady. I've checked both for load Data and can't find anything put together. Was wondering if anyone has used this powder with Hornady 147 gr.XTP. thanks for any help

Since they’re affiliated wupith Speer, their data is skewed towards Speer. So I’d drop the loads .4 or .5 grains and work up…

Sport pistol is a good powder.

Alliant Sport powder Empty ASP velocity vs Bullseye

Post by SonOfSwede 10/31/2022, 3:01 pm

Here is some velocity data I generated for ASP and Bullseye with a Labradar.  I was trying to see if ASP held up to its claimed low temp sensitivity.  The only thing I found is that it has a much higher velocity range for any one load.

In general, I found ASP to need almost 1 grain more than other powers.

I hope this helps
