Scope shades advice needed Empty Scope shades advice needed

I have an H2 that I plan on mounting on a 1911 at the very back of the slide. If I do this it appears that the front lense of the red dot scope may get covered with powder residue coming out of the chamber area as the gun cycles. Is there some sort of “sun shade” type of tube that is needed to keep the front lense clean and free from damage of do most folks shoot their rear mounted scopes without a sun shade?

Seems like I have seen a lot of shooters with some form of tube/sun shade on their rear mounted red dots.

Totts (kodiak) shades or carbon tubes are common. KC sells both

Other options exist as well, just have not experienced them first hand.

I recommend that you try the ones from Photoescape, the front shade uses 3 set screws in addition to loctite so they tend to stay on better. 1911 45 brass tends to knock the (just) glued on off on occasion. Really distracting in a match  Shocked
