I need recommendations on a red dot site mount for a Clark Model 61 38 Wadcutter. I'm attaching a picture.

I make a custom mount for your .38 with the mini-rib. I will email you tomorrow a pic because I don't have time right now.

Hey Jon, post your pic here. I'd like to see what you use for a mount. I had a Clark .38 a long time ago. Nice gun and not as ammo finicky as the 52 I also owned. The Clark had some slide lightening milling cuts in the top of the slide underneath a Bomar rib. In spite of the lightened slide I could never get it to cycle alibi-free with a slide mounted ultradot.

This is R&D version #1. It is a fully machined mount that replaces the Bomar mini-rib. I make it to apply pressure to the top of the barrel like the mini-rib does. My second version, mounts to the mini-rib so that you can remove the scope mount and shoot irons without losing irons zero. Still a very low mount. It can be made for Aimpoint Micro and for scope rings. I've shot double rings like this since 1989. I'll have to dig for my photos of version 2. I've never had an alibi with this pistol from scope. Use 2.7 gr BE.

Mine is a standard slide. Would a spring change be recommended? Very good looking set up! Cost? I shoot the same Ultradot on your gun.

Nice looking rig Jon. I guess I just didn't know enough to make mine work back then. It produced too many short-cycle alibis with 2.7BE. Anyway, it's water under the bridge....I sold it 5 or 6 years ago.

Hi Jon - I just added a picture of my rear site with the cover off. Does your mount mate to these screw holes and do you provide a the screws? Seems like the perfect option for me. Can you send a picture of the mount?

Yes it mounts to existing hole pattern. I didn't want to drill and tap mine either so I fabricated this mount. I'll try to post pics later today.

Can you post a picture of yours? Did you have to change your spring? I load 2.7 of WST.

Just for comparison, the 52 I am playing with will function flawlessly with 2.0 WST 148 DEWC from PENN, and rip the x ring out at shortline..That's all I have had time to play with.. Hope to test some other powders later this week.

PM me and I'll attach some photos, including some Ransom Rest groups after Jon rebuilt the gun. Pretty impressive. The gun never would work with 2.7 BE consistently before or after rebuild. It likes 2.9, but after Jerry posted, I realized that I've never tried WST. I'll do that next week.

here's a pic of mount in the white. Can add as many slots as necessary: micro or double ring for ultradot.

WST is a great 38 spl powder..Extension use in revolvers.. I have never tried it in an auto. But , just a note.. the gun I am referring to utilizes a frame mount, so I can play with much lower pressure loads.. I don't think 2.0 gr will function a slide mount. I was pressed for time, to throw something together for the first match..It worked fabulous.. I have two cases of BA10 which I plan to test next..Greg Walloch wrote:PM me and I'll attach some photos, including some Ransom Rest groups after Jon rebuilt the gun. Pretty impressive. Greg's gun is TIGHT! Took the Clark 2 piece barrel and welded up the hood and bottom lugs and re-fit. Bottom lugs were fit to perfection. Pistol shot sub 1.5" at 50. Now you've done it Jerry! Now I'm gonna have to see how low I can go with the BE powder...just to know )
