Re: Backlit target
Hmm, I think it would actually be a disadvantage fro me. It kinda makes you want to look at the target rather than your front sight. Just imho.
Re: Backlit target
When I was shooting normal paper air pistol targets (have an electronic target now), I had a light far enough in front of the target with the goal of having even lighting across the entire target face. I would also find a backlit target as pictured distracting.

Re: Backlit target
I think lighting the holes would make me want to think about the previous shot instead of the one I'm about to shoot.
I already have too many distractions between the ears

Seems like a great idea: immediate feedback on calling your shots

Wire an on/off switch for spotting.

Re: Backlit target
On my outdoor practice range I shoot facing West so later in the day the sunlight is pretty strong behind the target. When the target starts getting shot, those bright holes are pretty distracting so I do not like that. Your idea might have some useful value in training say if you are trying to call shots or confirm groups etc but if you are trying to replicate match conditions, I'm not so sure it would be a good thing.
Not that you want to get too crazy with this, but if you get one of those small lights that also has a hand held remote control, you could turn it on/off at will from your firing point. You could shoot at a regular target 5 or 10 times then flip the light on to check those holes/groups from a distance.
Good Luck.

Seems like I missed both of these posts before I sent mine. Didn't mean to steal the ides.
