My son purchased a Hawke red dot scope 30mm. The max setting 11 red dot is as bright as setting 4 on Ultradot Matchdot 30mm. Not very bright. Battery is new, to test the battery he exchanged batteries. Hawke stayed about the same but Matchdot got brighter. Is that normal or did he get a bad scope?

I do not know much about Hawke Red Dots but if that dot does not get bright enough to use in bright sun, it should be returned.

I told him that, it was purchased from Opticsplanet so it shouldn't be a problem but wondering if that's the intensity limit, if so get a refund or try another Hawke scope to get undamaged intensity. Most red dot scopes have a super bright dot at max setting. I never had to use any red dot I had at max. except the reflex micros that I don't like for other reasons.
