Colt MKIV SERIES 70 Empty Colt MKIV SERIES 70

Reciently saw a MKIV SERIES 70 with a strange serial #  . It was 70B389XX . The strange part was the was "A" in front of the 70B389XX. 
I have never viewed this before , has anyone ?

Yes I have one with the A. My serial number closely replicates yours.
