Beretta 92FS question
I thinking about buying a Beretta 92FS. Does any one know if any company makes a scope mount for this pistol ? I am looking for Rail mount of some kind.
I am looking for a mount that bolts on to the grip area and the actual rail sets over the barrel.
Hoping some one would knew of a company that sales them. Thanks. Marty

Re: Beretta 92FS question
There are a very few companies that make a reflex mount for the 92. I’ve never seen one for a Picatinny rail that you could mount a short tube dot on. For Bullseye the primary use for a 92 is for a Service Pistol. For that iron sights are the rule. If you want to have a 9mm for center fire, then there are other types that are better to build from like a CZ-75 (SP01) and 1911.

Re: Beretta 92FS question
Langdon Tactical does a lot of work with red dots for the 92, trying to get them low on the slide. I have several slides either made by him or modified by him for a variety of red dots:
https://langdontactical.com/92-elite-ltt-red-dot-ready-slide/
His trigger jobs, as well as his drop-in trigger jobs, are pure magic.
There are a variety of other mounts I have seen for the 92, mostly sitting in the rear sight dovetail, but there is this:

My David Sams Beretta was built this way. He had the gun in hand and ready to sell (vs the long wait for a custom build), but I wanted a service pistol not a dot gun, so I had him take it off when I bought it.
Here's a photo of it before he took the optic off.

Re: Beretta 92FS question
NuJudge…Thanks for the link to the tube red dot mount for Beretta 92. Just want I was looking for. Going to confirm it fits the 92FS model also.
PPG… thanks for the picture of the 92Fs tube red dot mount. This type of mount would work. I am going to try to research the picture you showed. looks like the letters 5SJ or5SG. If you remember the brand of the mount please list. Thanks. Marty

I have a near new Beretta M9A4 that shoots 2” groups at 50y for sale if you’re interested. It’s the newest M9 version that has a plate built into the slide for mounting a scope. Let me know if you’re interested. Thanks
Re: Beretta 92FS question
Orion… not familiar with that Beretta model. Will do some research. Marty

"M9" is the military name for the 92. "A4" is the 5th iteration. There are a few primarily aesthetic differences, which an optics shooter should care little about.

Ok. I am looking at just target shooting. 50 yard bullseye type local matches with 9mm. Trying to keep up with these rich farmers. Winner gets $10.00. Ha ha. I am Leaning towards the Beretta 92X performance. Big money but can add a red dot when I want too. MD

An “optic shooter” would care for the new changes. Those aesthetic changes from the 92fs include: slide mount rail built in for an optic, Picatinny rail (mount a weight of you want), steel trigger (instead of plastic), 1911 style different grip (removed the bulky 92 grip most people don’t like, thinned it, and aggressively textured it). I have both the 92FS and the M9A4, I don’t think the 92 series have these modifications, especially the optic mount..

92 series implemented picatinny rail and steel components starting with the 92A1. I was not familiar with the slide mount optic components on the M9A4 until just now. I stand educated

Re: Beretta 92FS question
Mustachio. Wow that is a nice beretta 92 FS with the red dot ! So if I was to have the same gun in your picture what would I need to do , sent off and have slide cut and drilled for a optic mount ? Who did your work ? What kind of groups to you get at 25 and 50 yards if you shoot that far with factory ammo and brand and weight may I ask ? I don’t reload.
I am torn with buying a 92FS with re dot like yours and maybe Put some money into trigger work or spend 1650.00 And buy the Beretta 92X Performance. Tough choice. Big money difference but after I spend money for trigger kit , and red dot mount , etc on the 92FS might not be that much of a difference and hold just by the 92X performance. Thanks. Marty

Re: Beretta 92FS question
My rail cost $85.00 + $50 to drill and tap one extra hole. I had a guy named WAL from the Beretta forum put on a barrel bushing (see photo- I go between irons and red dot) and the accuracy is far better than I can shoot it. A rail can be found here, Vortex Viper / Venom Red Dot Sight Mount for Beretta 92 (fits Burris FastFire and Docter) (egwguns.com).
I shoot 135 and 147 gr only...gun likes those weights best.
I did my own trigger work, and it breaks crisply at 3#.
I have less than $800 in this gun, but I did get it NIB for only $419.00
