When did President's Pistol Match Format Change?
In 1980 the winning score in the President's Pistol Match was 886 46x and only 50 competitors are listed in results bulletin. In 1979 there was no President's results are included in the results bulletin online.
Starting in 1981 the match results look like what we know today with winning scores in the 380's and the top 100 honored.
Does anyone know if the format changed in 1981? Was it new in 1980 then revised for 1981? or is it an error in the results bulletin?

Looks like P100 was a 900 from 1967-1980:

I like the title of that piece. "A Short History..." and its 27 pages long. All in perspective I guess.

Ah, until 1981, it was a paper match. Aggregate of 22, CF, and 45 NMC's from the national 2700 match.
Would love to see the P100 as a service pistol 900. Make the NMC the NTI for EIC points.

There was a decision to segregate the “Board matches” ( those specified in NBPRP matches) from the “ NRA matches in the middle 70s. In rifle, it was “Board Week” and NRA week. So the practice of having the Presidents match as a paper match changed to a fired match. Likely at the insistence of the military teams. I like it better this way actually.
