Hammerli Gunsmith Needed
Hello Everyone,
After a very long time I have a place to shoot again and I have been enjoying my collection of target pistols. It's a large somewhat fancy indoor range in Austin, TX. Not perfect for bullseye but affordable and I am most grateful for it.
I have a reasonably old Hammerli International American Model that I bought a while back for a song. It has a really wonderful trigger and it shoots far better than I do. The slide stop screw evidently was not kept tight between uses before I got it and it has enlarged it's hole in the frame to the point of not being able to engage the screw any more. I just shoot it without the slide stop installed and it works fine but out of respect I would like to get it repaired, it seems rather sloppy on my part not to take care of a fine gun.
Can anyone send me to a good gunsmith who could work on this for me? I have the parts and an extra spring but hesitate to start wacking on the thing myself.
I am located in Central Texas and There is no problem as far as time factor, etc. I have lots of guns and no schedule.
Thanks,
Dwight

Re: Hammerli Gunsmith Needed
If I needed a gunsmith to work on a pistol, I would give a shout to Jon Shue. (He also has microwelding capability if needed.)

Thanks for the help! I sent the pistol off to John Shue and he said He had done the same repair several times before. It is such a nice pistol I hate to have it lying around not taken care of.
