Model 41 safety hits sear
You usually hear to loosen the spring clip over the safety when the 41 safe is stiff or does not work. My 41 safe fails because the blocking pin that is supposed to go in front of the sear actually hits the sear edge and will not go past. Therefore my safe does not work. So when I set the National Record, my gun will be inspected and then DQ'd.
What is the fix here?

Jack, is your safety a one piece or two piece unit? I don't think I've ever heard of this situation before. Does it move freely without the safety spring putting tension on the safety?

KC
I will have to look. The pistol is a 1977ish made "A" serial number.
The original 5.5" bbl was one that keyholed at 50ft. I had it lined by Alex. That bbl shoots good now. Also bought a 7" from Gil Hebard and had local GS cut it to 5.75" This is a very accurate bbl.
When I bought the 41 several years ago, I was told it had been worked over at Ft Benning. The trigger is excellent, but I doubt the Benning story.

Re: Model 41 safety hits sear
If it's a 77 gun should be the one piece. Give me a call if you'd like and maybe we can get through this over the phone.
