Match Beretta Pictures Request
Hey I was wondering if I could get some up close pictures of the insides of something like a Dave Sams Beretta.
Particularly the set screws(?) in the barrel bed and the corresponding wear pattern on the barrel where they contact, the barrel bushing and its attachment method, the area around the chamber that mates with the breechface of the slide, and the steel frame rail inserts.
Thank you!

Ran across this thread that shows some of what you're asking for -- About half-way down the page posted by username C-Train.

Awesome! Thank you. interesting the whole sleeve is threaded rather than a threaded fastener securing it from the front like most bushings. probably to comply with old rules about external look/features?Sc0 wrote:For the breech hood, it's a gunsmith fit oversize barrel so file work until the firing pin lines up in the middle. As for the muzzle end, barrel is threaded for a sleeve and the sleeve is locked up tight in the slide when in battery. Sam's used to sell the barrel sleeves, not sure if he still does.

Ummm….while the Beretta is a decent pistol when accurized….you might get further ahead my looking into using an M17 or M18 (Sig 320) as your 9mm Service pistol. Aftermarket support is more available and likely will be easier and cheaper to get a competitive CMP Service Pistol.

I had the opportunity to handle several of Mr. Bruce Gray's p320s (grayguns.com). They're absolutely brilliant. It's amazing what he was able to do with that platform.

Thank you for the suggestion, but that's not the subject of this thread.Wobbley wrote:Ummm….while the Beretta is a decent pistol when accurized….you might get further ahead my looking into using an M17 or M18 (Sig 320) as your 9mm Service pistol. Ok I really like that and doesn't involve drilling at a weird angle. Just a single cut, maybe with a ball nose endmill so you don't have a sharp 90° stress riser on the inside.

Do you have a 92 already to start with? If not, I highly recommend buying a new brigadier. Beretta's manufacturing quality had increased by light years over the 80s/90s pistols. The fit and finish on the new 92 is excellent, and the brigadier has a beefier slide with some extra weight that helps tame 9mm hardball nicely.
