weak or handicap shooters
I shoot with some shooters that could use some help with opening the slide on their gun. Does anyone know of a device to help with the slide on a Benelli MP 90. Maybe something that bolts to the bench and the shooter could use both hands on the grip. The gun has a ultradot on it so it is hard to get a hold of it from the topside.

I have seen people use a 'slide racker' that fits into the rear sight dovetail.

No, sorry, Dr. Bill, but the "slide" on a Benelli is mostly enclosed, more accurately called a bolt, I guess. I know of at least one notable Pardini shooter who has a "hook" on the bench to assist, but the Pardini has more protuberant "ears" on each side of the "bolt" which facilitate that. Hmmm. Tough one.

Can you post a picture of how the dot is positioned?

I don't know much about the mp90, but would it be possible to use a square u-shaped channel to rack from the front? I'm imagining something 3d printed with a 45 degree base, so that you could simply push the muzzle down into it and it would push back on the ears. The squared off underlug looks like it would be really simple to design around.

Whatever you add, make certain it's very very lightweight. The Benelli is rather sensitive to timing changes, and is unlikely to work if you fit some sort of metal handle. Yes, plastic may go flying, but...
The other thing to consider is the lockback button. It's tricky to coordinate pulling the bolt and pushing the button, for those who have trouble racking it at all. What you come up with might actually be able to make that easier?
Your suggestion of a fixture on the bench to push on is intriguing. A notch in a block of wood might just work. Make it just wide enough to contact the front edge of the "ears". Put some leather on the inner contact surfaces.

Or get the new version of the Pardini with the larger protrusions.

Thanks for the ideas. the red dot is a Ultra Dot mounted in the rear sight dovetail. I will try to get a picture of the gun next week.

Re: weak or handicap shooters
Here's a radical thought.
For some reason, my wife has difficulty racking a pistol slide and loading magazines. Not sure why - no weakness, arthritis, etc. Mostly a co-ordination issue.
But, she shoots a revolver lights-out. Sometimes simple is better.

Jim if I was to cut a channel for the Benelli to fit into about how wide would it be. I am thinking about making a rough prototype to take to the range for next week.
