9mm Lead Flat Point 147gn
I am pretty sure I am doing it correctly and I do have a short chamber. But it seems like no matter what I do my 147 LFP's do not pass the plunk test unless I load the bullet to about 1.08 to 1.09 OAL.
I was using Brazos and ordered some Bayou Bullets to test and the Cannelure on the Bayou seem a little better then the Brazos.
I was loading 3.5 gns w321 I got pressure signs and Leading but the bullets shot like lasers. Loading over 3.3 W231 , sill pressure signs, less leading but with reduced accuracy as compared to 3.5gns.
Loading over 1 CH under 3.1 cycled the gun fine and no pressure signs to be concerned about and is pleasant to shoot.
I think I am crimping about as much as I need to , Max before resizing the bullet in the case.
Has anyone had this experience with 147gn LFP? I like the bullet but do not like the idea of loading that short? Currently about 1.08 versus 1.10 to 1.12 suggested. I do have a Walther factory barrel 1:9 that I can load longer than the Jarvis Barrel 1:16 twist but I feel like 1:16 could be accurate????
Does 9MM LRN have a better Cannelure?

Yes I was getting groups like that out of my PPQ. I think the Brazos is a little different then the Bayou. 3.5 BE should translate to about 3.0 W231.
Magnus is fairly famous for that bullet and 38 super I seen them group under 1 inch at 50 yards with a really well built 1911.
What Barrel is that 952 or 1911? My Barrel is a Jarvis 1:16

952. It has a 1:18.75 twist. I've got some other groups here with the RO 1911. It shot pretty decent with factory barrel and even better after I fitted the Briley Bushing and replaced the slide stop. The RO is a 38 super now and still likes those 147gr LFP.

How was fitting the bushing? Seems like a good Idea?LenV wrote:952. It has a 1:18.75 twist. I've got some other groups here with the RO 1911. Re: 9mm Lead Flat Point 147gn
I have some 147 grain FP’s on order from Summit City Bullets https://summitcitybullets.com/9mm-bullets. His add states this bullet design will work with short throated barrel and that’s a big reason I ordered them plus all I have read said he makes good bullets. It also lists a 147 RN with the same claim.
The 147 FP polymer coated bullet I have from Bayou bullets looks very similar and will feed with it seated at 1.125 and it might need to be another thousandths to be a little more “plunkable”. I’m getting a 133 PF with VV N320 and the accuracy is good from a CZ Shadow 2.
When I get the Summit City bullets I will post back with how they load and shoot.

Re: 9mm Lead Flat Point 147gn
Brazos 147gn still left lead in the barrel after about 20 rounds, Going to try Bayou which loaded about .03 longer 1.10 - to 1.11 versus about 1.07 to .08 for the Brazos.
I figure at 3.1 W321 and the Brazos was sized .357 if I recall; should have had no leading.
Although the bullets look identical then you look at them close the Bayou Bullets have a slightly more slender ogive.

I shot some of the Summit City FP 147’s with good results. VV N320, WW 231 both worked fine in a CZ Shadow plus a 1911.
